Government Committed to Soldier Welfare – Guardian Minister Shambhuraj Desai

Satara : The state government remains steadfast in its commitment to the welfare of military personnel, ex-servicemen, and the families of martyrs. Guardian Minister Shambhuraj Desai assured that the issue of accommodation for the families of martyrs who have yet to receive housing will be resolved before the martyrdom day of Gajanan More on August 27.

The 25th Kargil Victory Day was celebrated by the Sainik Welfare Department at the Zilla Parishad Late Yashwantrao Chavan Multipurpose Hall in Satara, chaired by Guardian Minister Shambhuraj Desai. During the event, Desai highlighted the sacrifices made by soldiers and assured that the state government is dedicated to their welfare. On this occasion, the Minister felicitated the heirs of Kargil War martyrs, those who lost their lives, and officers and soldiers who received gallantry medals by presenting cheques, mementos, and shawls.

Satara district, known as the district of soldiers, has seen many individuals become martyrs and disabled while serving the country. Guardian Minister Desai emphasized the bravery of these soldiers and the importance of honoring them. He announced the initiation of saluting the War Memorial on August 15, January 26, and May 1 starting this year.

Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, who was scheduled to attend the event, was unable to due to an important meeting in Delhi and adverse weather conditions. However, through a phone call, he conveyed his wishes on Kargil Victory Day to the heirs of martyrs, ex-servicemen, and serving soldiers. He reiterated the state government’s eternal gratitude to those who sacrificed their lives and became disabled during the war. The Chief Minister highlighted that Satara district is renowned as a soldier’s district and emphasized the government’s priority in developing Military Apshinge. He also mentioned the establishment of a corporation for ex-servicemen and the creation of a war museum in Mumbai, underscoring the government’s full commitment to soldier and ex-servicemen welfare.

Rajesh Gaikwad, Director of the Soldier Welfare Department, introduced the program and praised the Kargil war for showcasing extraordinary bravery. He detailed various schemes and activities implemented by the government for the welfare of soldiers. Before the event, Guardian Minister Desai paid tribute to martyr Colonel Santosh Mahadik at the Memorial Park. Veermata Kalindi Mahadik, Veerpatni Ujwala Nikam, and Veerpatni Vidya Sanap also expressed their sentiments during the program, which concluded with a vote of thanks from RR Jadhav.
