Balodabazar District Hospital’s Integrated Public Health Lab to Undergo NQAS Evaluation

Raipur, Sept 2025 :A team from the National Quality Assurance Standards (NQAS) will visit Balodabazar District Hospital’s Integrated Public Health Lab (IPHL) on September 11, 2025, to evaluate and test its standards. If the lab meets the required benchmarks, it will be awarded the NQAS certificate, making it the first government laboratory in the country to receive such certification—a significant achievement for both the district and the state.

Collector Deepak Soni inspected the hospital and reviewed the arrangements. He instructed officials to pay special attention to hygiene as well as public facilities.

This is the first time the hospital has applied for NQAS certification for its Integrated Public Health Lab. The hospital administration is making efforts to ensure that all facilities and systems meet the prescribed standards. At present, the lab offers around 103 types of diagnostic tests. These include 16 tests under hematology, 14 under clinical pathology, 30 under clinical biochemistry, 8 under serology, 28 under immunology, and 7 under microbiology.

It is noteworthy that the National Quality Assurance Standards is a program established by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India. Its objective is to improve and ensure the quality of healthcare services provided in public health facilities. The standards are based on specific requirements and best practices. Before granting certification, an expert team evaluates hospital services and satisfaction levels against several benchmarks. Only hospitals that meet these stringent standards are issued quality certification by the central health ministry.
