Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde Visits Flood-Hit Villages in Karanja, Reviews Damage and Assures Relief
Dharashiv, Sept 2025 : Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde on Wednesday visited the flood-affected villages of Shindewasti and Karlewasti in Karanja, Paranda taluka, to review the damage caused by heavy rains and flooding. He interacted with villagers and farmers to understand the extent of crop and property losses.
He was accompanied by Guardian Minister Pratap Sarnayak, Health Minister Prakash Abitkar, MLA Prof. Dr. Tanaji Sawant, District Collector Kirti Kiran Pujar, Zilla Parishad CEO Dr. Mainak Ghosh, Superintendent of Police Ritu Khokhar, Assistant Collector and Bhum Sub-Divisional Officer Raiwaiyah Dongre, and Tehsildar Nilesh Kakde.
During the visit, Shinde inspected the flood-damaged house of Changdev Shinde in Shindewasti. Villagers demanded relocation of their settlement, to which the Deputy Chief Minister assured that rehabilitation will certainly be carried out.
Speaking to residents, Shinde said that immediate temporary assistance would soon be provided, along with compensation based on official assessments. He emphasized that eligibility conditions would be relaxed to ensure that no affected family is left out of relief measures. He added that even cases where farmland has been completely washed away would be considered under revised compensation criteria.
“The affected families urgently need support. Everyone should come forward to help in their own way. This is a natural disaster, and we must face it with courage. The government will stand firmly with you. Both the state and central governments will extend aid to provide relief. Once the full scale of damage is assessed, policy-level decisions will be taken,” Shinde assured the flood victims.
In Shindewasti, the house of Police Patil Balasaheb Changdev Shinde was completely destroyed. Shinde, along with Sarnayak, Abitkar, and Dr. Sawant, personally inspected the damage to essential household items.
Later, Shinde traveled by NDRF boat to Karlewasti, where he met residents, heard their accounts of the losses, and reassured them of government support.
