Indiatourism Mumbai organises Cleanup Drive at Dadar Chowpatty under ‘Swachhta Hi Sewa’ Campaign
On the occasion of World Tourism Day 2025, coinciding with the ‘Swachhta Hi Sewa’ Campaign, Indiatourism Mumbai, in association with the Department of Youth Affairs, Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Press Information Bureau, Institute of Hotel Management, Dadar, and the Association of Domestic Tour Operators of India, organized a Cleanup Drive at Dadar Chowpatty, Mumbai. Around 60 participants, including officials from Indiatourism Mumbai, Press Information Bureau, students and staff of the Institute of Hotel Management Dadar, representatives of the Department of Youth Affairs, members of the Association of Domestic Tour Operators of India and the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation, took active part in the drive.
Speaking on the occasion, Shri Mohamed Farouk, Regional Director, India Tourism (West & Central), emphasized the importance of cleanliness and responsible tourism practices. He stated that this year’s theme of World Tourism Day, “Tourism and Sustainable Transformation,” underlines the responsibility of every citizen to travel responsibly and contribute towards sustainability. He stressed that transformation in tourism can only be meaningful when it is coupled with active participation in initiatives that safeguard the environment.
The main objective of this initiative was to promote cleanliness and responsible tourism practices, in alignment with the global theme of World Tourism Day. The event not only focused on cleaning the beach but also sought to instill values of environmental stewardship, responsible celebration, and active citizenship among the participants. A Swachhta Pledge was administered to reaffirm the commitment of all participants towards the ideals of the Swachh Bharat Mission.

The Cleanup Drive at Dadar Chowpatty witnessed an overwhelming display of enthusiasm and commitment from officials, volunteers, students and tourism stakeholders. The collective effort reflected a strong resolve towards achieving the national vision of a Clean India and demonstrated a shared dedication to maintaining a clean and sustainable environment. The event served as a powerful testament to the impact of community-driven initiatives and the importance of collaborative efforts in driving positive change.
