Tourism Minister Pu Lalnghinglova Hmar Meets NITI Aayog Member Dr. VK Paul in New Delhi

Aizawl, Nov 2025: During his visit to New Delhi, Pu Lalnghinglova Hmar, Minister of State for the Tourism Department, held a meeting this afternoon with Dr. VK Paul, Member of NITI Aayog, at the NITI Aayog Headquarters. The two discussed strategies and pathways for advancing tourism development in Mizoram.

Tourism Minister Pu Lalnghinglova Hmar highlighted that tourist arrivals in Mizoram have seen significant growth in recent times. He noted that after improvements along the Sairang road, hotels and homestays in Aizawl are often fully occupied by visitors. He said, “Mizoram is blessed with many beautiful and scenic places. To attract more tourists to these locations, we need active support from local communities and must further develop our tourism infrastructure. We are working with strong commitment in this direction, and we are grateful for the support.”

As part of the plans discussed for tourism advancement in collaboration with NITI Aayog and the Government of Mizoram, the idea of organising a Mizoram Tourism Conclave was also highlighted. The conclave would bring in a wider range of stakeholders and help create a comprehensive roadmap for boosting tourism in the state. A dedicated Task Force is proposed to be set up to take the initiative forward and work on its timely implementation. The meeting also discussed organising a ‘Mizo Day’ event in New Delhi.

Further, it was noted that NITI Aayog and the Government of Mizoram will jointly organise a major consultation on ginger production and processing in Mizoram—titled ‘Stakeholder Consultation on Ginger Produce for Mizoram’—on November 24 in New Delhi. The event will be attended by Mizoram Chief Minister Pu Lalduhoma, along with government officials, industry representatives, educational institutions and various organisations. The broader aim is also to explore similar sector-based programmes, especially in tourism.

Present at the meeting on behalf of the Mizoram Government were:

  • Pu Vanlaldina Fanai, Commissioner & Secretary, Tourism Department
  • Pu Alexander V. Chongthu, Resident Commissioner, Mizoram House, New Delhi
  • Pi R. Lalrodingi, Director, Tourism Department
  • Pu H. Lalramenga, PS to the Minister

Pu Vanlaldina Fanai delivered a detailed PowerPoint presentation outlining the current tourism landscape and prospects for Mizoram.
