Public Holiday Declared on January 15 in 29 Municipal Corporation Election Areas
Mumbai, January 2026 : Polling for the elections to 29 municipal corporations in the state will be held on Thursday, January 15, 2026. In view of this, the state government has issued a notification declaring a public holiday on January 15, 2026, in the concerned polling areas.
The notification directs that this public holiday be brought to the notice of all government and semi-government offices, corporations, boards, and similar establishments under the administrative control of all departments. The public holiday will also be applicable to voters from the concerned municipal corporation election areas who are working outside their constituencies.
As stated in the notification, the public holiday will also apply to Central Government offices, semi-government offices, public sector undertakings, banks, and similar establishments located within the municipal corporation areas.
The municipal corporations where the public holiday will be applicable include Brihanmumbai, Thane, Navi Mumbai, Ulhasnagar, Kalyan–Dombivli, Bhiwandi–Nizampur, Mira–Bhayandar, Vasai–Virar, Panvel, Nashik, Malegaon, Ahilyanagar, Jalgaon, Dhule, Pune, Pimpri–Chinchwad, Solapur, Kolhapur, Ichalkaranji, Sangli–Miraj–Kupwad, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Nanded–Waghala, Parbhani, Jalna, Latur, Amravati, Akola, Nagpur, and Chandrapur.
The administration has appealed to voters to actively participate in the democratic process by casting their votes and taking part in the festival of democracy.
