16-Year-Old Girl Allegedly Gang-Raped Inside Empty Sleeper Bus in Greater Noida, Two Arrested

New Delhi, Aug 2026 : A 16-year-old girl was allegedly gang-raped inside an empty sleeper bus by its driver and conductor in Greater Noida earlier this month, police said on Monday. Both accused have been arrested and the vehicle has been seized as investigators gather forensic and CCTV evidence.

According to police, the incident took place on August 4 near Pari Chowk. The teenager alleged that the two men sexually assaulted her inside the bus and threatened to kill her if she resisted. Following the alleged assault, the accused abandoned her near Kashmere Gate in Delhi.

The accused have been identified as Kuldeep, the bus driver, and Sandeep, the conductor. Police said both men were arrested from a parking area in Timarpur on the same day after the incident was reported.

The bus has been taken into custody and sent for forensic examination. Investigators have also collected CCTV footage from various points along the route travelled by the vehicle. The footage is being analysed to establish the sequence of events and determine the movements of the bus before and after the alleged crime.

Police said forensic teams recovered strands of the survivor’s hair from inside the bus as part of the evidence-gathering process. Further forensic examination of the vehicle is underway to identify and preserve any additional evidence relevant to the investigation.

The teenager, a resident of Mainpuri in Uttar Pradesh, had reportedly left home without informing her family after being reprimanded by her mother over her studies. She was travelling to Noida Sector 63, where her cousin lives.

According to her statement to police, she mistakenly got down at Pari Chowk during heavy rain and darkness. After realising that she had reached the wrong location, she began looking for another means of transport.

She eventually stopped the sleeper bus and asked about its destination. Police said there were no passengers inside the vehicle at the time.

The conductor allegedly told the girl that the bus was travelling towards Noida Sector 63, following which she boarded it. Investigators later found that the bus was actually returning empty after undergoing repairs at a workshop in Surajpur.

The teenager alleged that shortly after the bus started moving, the conductor began behaving inappropriately towards her. She further alleged that both the driver and conductor subsequently sexually assaulted her and threatened her with serious consequences if she resisted.

The two men allegedly later abandoned her near Ring Road in the Kashmere Gate area of Delhi before fleeing. The girl subsequently approached the police and reported the incident, prompting an investigation.

Police said the sleeper bus was fitted with curtains around individual berths, providing enclosed spaces inside the vehicle. Investigators are examining the vehicle’s layout and other evidence as part of the probe.

The accused have been booked under provisions relating to gang rape, kidnapping and assault, police said. Given the survivor’s age, the investigation is being conducted under applicable laws protecting children and survivors of sexual offences.

Authorities are continuing to examine CCTV footage, forensic evidence and witness statements to establish the complete sequence of events.

Police said further action will follow as evidence is analysed and the investigation progresses.
