Lucknow/Greater Noida, September 2026 : The efforts being made under the Yogi Government to create a safer, smoother, and technology-driven transport system are also being showcased at the Uttar Pradesh International Trade Show (UPITS). At the fourth edition of UPITS being held in Greater Noida, the Transport Department is using its stall to provide information about departmental services, road safety initiatives, and new vehicle-related systems. On the occasion, Additional Chief Secretary, Transport, Amrit Abhijat announced that a statewide Operation Kavach campaign against unauthorized buses will be conducted from September 28 to 30 as part of road safety measures.
Addressing a technical workshop organized by the Transport Department, the Additional Chief Secretary said that a special statewide enforcement drive under Operation Kavach will be carried out from September 28 to 30 against illegally operated buses. The campaign aims to ensure effective compliance with transport regulations and strengthen road safety across the state.
Highlighting the growing pollution levels and deteriorating air quality in the National Capital Region (NCR), he appealed to owners of End-of-Life (EOL) vehicles to send their vehicles to authorized scrapping centres. Vehicle owners in the NCR were urged to dispose of old vehicles that have completed their prescribed operational lifespan at authorized facilities, thereby helping reduce pollution caused by aging vehicles.
Providing details of the Transport Department’s Parivartan Scheme, he appealed to owners of vehicles compliant with BS-I, BS-II, BS-III, and BS-IV emission standards to apply through the Parivartan Portal.
The workshop also emphasized strict adherence to traffic regulations as a key measure to reduce road accidents and fatalities. Citizens were urged to drive at controlled speeds, wear helmets while riding two-wheelers, use seat belts in four-wheelers, refrain from driving under the influence of alcohol, and avoid using mobile phones while driving.
The Transport Department further informed that, for the convenience of citizens, 52 departmental services have been made faceless, while 40 services are being delivered through the auto-approval mode. At the trade show, visitors, particularly young people, are also being introduced to modern driving licence technologies and simulators being used by the department.
