The world will witness the flight of faith at Deepotsav-2026, with 2,100 drones illuminating Ayodhya's skies: Jaiveer Singh
Lucknow/Ayodhya, October 2026 : Skies above the temple town, which will glow with the light of earthen lamps, will once again bear witness to a spectacular sight this year. The Tourism Department will organize a grand aerial drone show during Deepotsav-2026, to be held on the eve of Diwali.
As many as 2,100 colorful drones will take flight simultaneously in Ayodhya's skies, presenting a mesmerizing confluence of devotion, spirituality and modern technology through lights, formations and colors. Compared to last year, Uttar Pradesh Tourism Department is preparing to illuminate the skies above the temple town with nearly twice as many drones on November 07 and 08.
Tourism and Culture Minister Jaiveer Singh stated, “This year, 2,100 indigenously manufactured drones will bring the story of the Ramayana to life in Ayodhya's skies for approximately 15 minutes during Deepotsav. These drones, taking flight simultaneously during the aerial show, will depict major episodes from the Ramayana, Lord Shri Ram's return to Ayodhya and the associated spiritual sentiments in the sky through lights and formations. Preparations are underway to give the grandeur of Deepotsav-2026 a new dimension through this unique show of its kind.”
Government of CM Yogi strives to give Ayodhya's Deepotsav a new level of grandeur every year. This time, special emphasis will also be placed on innovation in the aerial drone show. As directed by the Tourism Department, the storyboard, script, music, and voice-over, as well as the drone formations created in the sky, will all differ from previous editions. At least 15 special drone formations will be prepared. More than 50% of these formations will be entirely new compared to those showcased during the previous Deepotsav. This means devotees and tourists will see visuals different from those seen in previous years in the skies above the temple town.
Drone show will present the principal characters and narrative episodes from the Ramayana through captivating visual formations. Formations created by 2,100 drones will depict Lord Shri Ram, Lakshman and Hanuman in heroic poses in Ayodhya's skies. In addition, scenes depicting the slaying of Ravana, the Pushpak Viman, Deepotsav, Ram Darbar, Maharishi Valmiki and Goswami Tulsidas will come alive. The logos of Ram Mandir, Deepotsav, Uttar Pradesh government and Tourism Department will also be displayed in the sky. The coordination of music, lights and various visual effects will lend grandeur to the show. Special integration of voice-over and musical narration will make the Deepotsav-2026 drone show even more captivating and mesmerize the audience.
Recognizing the popularity of drone shows, Uttar Pradesh Tourism Department has focused on enhancing their grandeur every year. An aerial show featuring 500 drones was organized during Deepotsav-2024, followed by a show featuring 1,100 drones during Deepotsav-2025, both of which received widespread appreciation from audiences. This year, the number of drones has been increased to 2,100, enabling even grander and more captivating visuals in the sky.
ACS of Tourism, Culture and Dharmarth Karya Department, Amrit Abhijat, stated, “Deepotsav-2026 will showcase a remarkable blend of technology and tradition. The team is working to bring episodes from the Ramayana to life in the sky through 2,100 indigenously manufactured drones. New formations, music, voice-over and lighting effects have made the aerial show more captivating than before. We endeavor to ensure that devotees and tourists visiting Ayodhya return with an unforgettable experience of the grandeur of Deepotsav.”
