Raipur, Aug 2026 : The Chhattisgarh government has been continuously taking effective steps with the objective of increasing farmers’ incomes, reducing the cost of cultivation and promoting the production of millets and other coarse grains. Under the National Food Security and Nutrition Mission being implemented by the Agriculture Department, farmers in the state are being provided with advanced agricultural technology, quality seeds and essential agricultural inputs, including fertilisers and medicines. The positive results of these efforts are now becoming visible on the ground.
New Enthusiasm in Shubham Dubey’s Life Through Maize Cultivation
Under the National Food Security and Nutrition Mission, farmers are being encouraged to cultivate higher-yielding crops alongside traditional crops, giving fresh momentum to agricultural production and farmers’ prosperity in the state. A new sense of enthusiasm is being seen in the life of farmer Shubham Dubey, a resident of Krishnapur village in the Ambikapur development block of Surguja district. Shubham Dubey has cultivated maize on approximately two acres of his land. The Agriculture Department provided him with improved varieties of maize seeds, fertilisers and necessary medicines for weed control.
Shift from Vegetables to Maize Brings Hope of Higher Production and Income
Farmer Shubham Dubey said that earlier he used to traditionally cultivate vegetables on his farm, but he was unable to achieve the expected production and profits. After joining the National Food Security and Nutrition Mission, he cultivated maize using improved varieties of seeds and proper nutrient management, following which the plants developed rapidly. The use of recommended medicines for weed control gave the crop a full opportunity to grow properly. Shubham Dubey said that the crop is developing on time and with better quality, giving him strong hopes of receiving a good price by selling his produce in the market at the right time. This will not only increase his income but also strengthen his family’s financial condition.
Expressing Gratitude to the Chief Minister and the Government
Encouraged by the technical guidance and timely assistance received from the Agriculture Department, Shubham Dubey expressed his gratitude to Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai and the Chhattisgarh government. He said that the government’s initiative is giving small and traditional farmers a new direction in agriculture and increasing their confidence in farming.
