The 25-page open letter, presented by IRGC spokesman Brigadier General Hossein Mohebbi at a news conference in Tehran on Tuesday, came about five weeks before the November 3 US midterm elections. The message called on Americans to pressure their government to end the war, reduce its military presence in the Middle East and reconsider its support for Israel.
The IRGC said Washington had failed to achieve its military and political objectives in the conflict and argued that US policy had relied on Iran’s nuclear programme as a justification for broader military and economic pressure.
