AIMIM Leader Mahboob Ali Stabbed to Death in Hyderabad, Police Launch Manhunt

Hyderabad, Aug 2026 : An All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) leader was stabbed to death by a group of unidentified assailants in Hyderabad’s Falaknuma area late Sunday night, police said on Monday.

The deceased was identified as 60-year-old Mahboob Ali, an AIMIM worker. The attack took place in the Wattepally area under the jurisdiction of Falaknuma Police Station. Police said the motive behind the killing has not yet been established and an investigation is underway.

According to preliminary information, Ali was near Almas Hotel when a group of around five to six people allegedly surrounded him and attacked him with knives and sickles. He sustained multiple serious injuries in the assault.

The attackers fled the spot immediately after the incident. Ali reportedly collapsed on the road and remained there for around 15 minutes before being taken to a nearby hospital. Despite efforts by doctors to save him, he succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment.

Following the attack, Falaknuma police reached the location and began collecting evidence and gathering information about the circumstances leading to the murder. Investigators are also questioning eyewitnesses and members of the victim’s family as they attempt to identify those responsible.

Police said three special teams have been formed to track down and apprehend the suspects. Officials added that the exact motive for the killing remains unclear at this stage.

The incident has prompted concern among local political circles. AIMIM MLA Mohammed Mubeen visited the bereaved family and expressed his condolences following Ali’s death.

Mubeen also visited the police station and met senior police officials, demanding immediate and stringent action against the perpetrators. In a statement, he condemned the killing and called for stronger measures to ensure public safety.

“We urge the Government of Telangana and Hyderabad Police to strengthen patrolling, crack down on anti-social elements, and take stringent action against the growing menace of drugs and violent crime, so that the safety and security of every citizen is ensured,” Mubeen said.

The AIMIM leader’s killing has raised concerns over violent crime in the locality, with party workers seeking swift police action and the arrest of all those involved.

Police officials said the investigation is progressing and that teams are examining available evidence, speaking to witnesses and verifying information provided by the victim’s family.

Authorities are yet to establish whether the attack was linked to any personal dispute, political rivalry or other motive. Police are expected to determine the circumstances surrounding the killing after questioning the suspects once they are apprehended.

Further details are awaited as the investigation continues.
