Hyderabad, Nov 2026 : Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Monday offered prayers at the Bhagyalakshmi temple, located beside the historic Charminar, shortly after arriving in Hyderabad to lead a BJP-organised ‘Maha Padyatra’.
Shah visited the temple in the Old City and performed prayers. He was accompanied by Union Minister for Coal and Mines G. Kishan Reddy and Telangana BJP president N. Ramchander Rao.
Earlier, Shah received a warm welcome at Begumpet Airport. Kishan Reddy, Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar, Ramchander Rao, BJP MPs and other party leaders were present to receive him.
The Home Minister is in Hyderabad to lead the foot march as part of the BJP’s nationwide campaign, ‘Save Democracy, Remove Anarchy’. The march, from the Babu Jagjivan Ram statue at Basheerbagh to Moazzam Jahi Market, is being organised to counter the anti-Special Intensive Revision (SIR) campaign launched by the INDIA bloc.
Shah is also scheduled to address a corner meeting at Moazzam Jahi Market. He is expected to respond to the Opposition’s criticism of the BJP during the INDIA bloc rally held at Ramlila Maidan in Delhi on Sunday.
BJP leaders have appealed to people to join the march in solidarity with the party’s campaign to protect democracy and constitutional institutions.
Ramchander Rao said in a post on X that special prayers were offered at the Bhagyalakshmi temple for strength to fight forces allegedly attempting to create anarchy in the country.
Earlier, the Telangana BJP chief criticised the Congress, saying the state would not forgive the party for its alleged attempts to plunge the country into disorder.
“Our country will not be run by the riot-mongering politics of Rahul Gandhi, but by the Constitution and people’s mandate,” he said.
Rao also criticised Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy for attending Sunday’s rally in Delhi. He alleged that the state government was failing to address the severe water crisis in Telangana while focusing on the Opposition gathering.
“Their entire focus was on making yesterday’s Ramlila Maidan rally a success, only for it to turn into a major flop,” Rao said, alleging that the Chief Minister was attending rallies instead of addressing the state’s water-related concerns.
