Jaipur, Aug 2026: Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma said that the Rajasthani diaspora is spreading the fragrance of the state’s soil across the world while promoting its rich culture, traditions and historical heritage. He urged non-resident Rajasthanis to actively participate in the state’s development journey and contribute through social service and community initiatives.
Addressing the Pravasi Rajasthani Sangam in Bengaluru on Sunday, Sharma said members of the Rajasthani diaspora had demonstrated their deep affection for their homeland through the ‘Karmabhoomi Se Matribhoomi’ (From Place of Work to Motherland) campaign. He appreciated their efforts to promote water conservation and other social initiatives in Rajasthan.
The Chief Minister said Prime Minister Narendra Modi considers the Indian diaspora to be the country’s brand ambassadors. He also praised Rajasthani community organisations in Saudi Arabia, Dubai, Riyadh and Bahrain for helping Indians during the West Asia crisis. Their assistance ranged from arranging accommodation to facilitating the safe return of Indians to the country, he said, describing the efforts as a reflection of India’s traditions of service, compassion and social responsibility.
Rajasthan on the path of rapid economic growth
Sharma said Rajasthan is witnessing rapid economic growth and emerging as one of India’s leading states. He noted that Rajasthan is currently the country’s seventh-largest economy, with a Gross State Domestic Product growth rate of more than 12 per cent and per capita income exceeding Rs 2 lakh.
The state government has set an ambitious target of expanding Rajasthan’s economy to $350 billion by 2030 and $4.3 trillion by 2047, he said.
Highlighting reforms aimed at improving the business environment, Sharma said the maximum time limit for obtaining Consent to Operate has been reduced from 120 days to 30 days for MSMEs and to 60 days for large enterprises. The list of non-polluting ‘White Category’ industries has also been expanded from 104 to 877.
He said the state’s Raj Nivesh single-window system has been expanded to provide investors with a wider range of services. The Rajasthan Industrial Park Promotion Policy-2026 is facilitating the systematic development of industrial areas and parks, while the Rajasthan Investment Promotion Scheme, Rajasthan MSME Policy, Rajasthan Export Promotion Policy-2024 and One District-One Product Policy are providing further incentives to industries.
Direct engagement with the Rajasthani diaspora
Sharma said the state government has taken several initiatives to establish closer and regular engagement with the Rajasthani diaspora. The Department of Domestic and Overseas Rajasthani Affairs has been established for this purpose.
The Rajasthan Development Support Portal has also been launched to facilitate diaspora members who wish to contribute to social development projects in the state. In collaboration with the Ministry of External Affairs, an Overseas Connect programme was organised in Jaipur to discuss and address challenges faced by Rajasthanis living abroad.
Bengaluru technology and Rajasthan entrepreneurship
The Chief Minister said cooperation from the Rajasthani diaspora has increased following the Rising Rajasthan Global Investment Summit. He said Bengaluru’s technological expertise and Rajasthan’s entrepreneurial spirit could be combined to create a new chapter of development.
“Business should not remain limited to transactions; it should also become an instrument of transformation,” Sharma said, urging members of the diaspora to look beyond balance sheets and contribute to Rajasthan’s prosperity through social service and community initiatives.
Invitation to Pravasi Rajasthani Day
Sharma invited members of the Rajasthani diaspora to attend the Pravasi Rajasthani Day celebrations scheduled to be held in Jaipur on December 10, 2026. He said their experience, suggestions and participation would provide further momentum to Rajasthan’s development journey.
On the demand for establishing a Rajasthan Bhawan in Karnataka, Sharma said the state government has approached the Karnataka government and is making every possible effort to provide the Rajasthani community with a permanent cultural, social and administrative centre.
Sachin Pandya, president of the Rajasthan Foundation’s Bengaluru chapter, described the Pravasi Rajasthani Sangam as a historic convergence of business, development and culture. He said the e-Mitra services introduced by the Rajasthan government outside the state have benefited the diaspora significantly. He assured that Pravasi Rajasthanis would extend full support to make Rajasthan one of the best states in the country.
MPs Dr Satish Poonia and Lehar Singh Siroya, National Commission for Women Chairperson Vijaya Rahatkar, noted musician Dr Ricky Kej, office-bearers of various Rajasthan Foundation chapters and a large number of members of the Rajasthani diaspora attended the programme.
