Patna, October 2026: Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary today formally inaugurated Bihar Integrated Manufacturing City Gaya Limited (BIMCGL) at Welcome Hotel by ITC in Bodh Gaya, Gaya district. The curtain-raiser for Bihar Business Connect (BBC) 2027 was also organised on the occasion.
The Chief Minister unveiled the logo of Bihar Integrated Manufacturing City Gaya Limited and launched the BIMCGL web portal. The programme was organised by the Bihar Industries Department in collaboration with the Bihar Industrial Area Development Authority (BIADA) and Invest Bihar.
Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister said Bihar was now fully prepared for industrial development. The state government was working on a wide range of initiatives to attract industrial investment, strengthen infrastructure, improve air connectivity and generate employment.
He said the time had come for people in India and across the world to change their perception of Bihar and for investors to take advantage of the opportunities available in the state. Bihar is moving towards a new phase of industrial development, investment and employment generation.
The government aims to convert the state's industrial potential into tangible opportunities, provide a favourable environment for investors and create sufficient employment opportunities for young people within Bihar.
Bihar Integrated Manufacturing City to attract Rs 16,500 crore
The Bihar Integrated Manufacturing City in Gaya is being developed across approximately 1,670 acres under the Amritsar-Kolkata Industrial Corridor (AKIC). The project has an estimated investment potential of around Rs 16,500 crore and is expected to generate approximately 1.10 lakh employment opportunities.
The Chief Minister described the project as an important step towards transforming Bihar's industrial landscape. He said the government was undertaking land acquisition for nearly 13,500 acres to support industrial development and infrastructure expansion, with the process expected to be completed by January.
He added that the government would encourage the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model to accelerate industrial development and enable the public and private sectors to work together in creating modern industrial facilities.
Bihar has already established the country's largest beverage bottling plant, while a steel plant is also being set up in the state. These projects, he said, reflect Bihar's growing industrial potential.
Magadh township and cultural heritage centre planned
Highlighting Gaya and Bodh Gaya's religious and cultural significance, the Chief Minister said the region was important not only for Bihar but also for people across the world. Bodh Gaya is revered as the place where Gautama Buddha attained enlightenment, while Gaya attracts large numbers of pilgrims for the annual Pind Daan rituals.
More than five million devotees reportedly visited Gaya for Pind Daan this year.
Keeping the region's historical and cultural significance in mind, the government plans to establish a township and a cultural heritage centre in the name of Magadh. These initiatives are expected to strengthen the region's historical identity while promoting tourism, local employment and economic activity.
Focus on air connectivity and industrial expansion
The Chief Minister stressed the need to strengthen air connectivity to Gaya. Plans are being considered to connect Gaya with Dubai and Kathmandu through air services. Efforts are also underway to expand air connectivity in other parts of Bihar, including Bhagalpur and Sonepur.
Improved transportation and connectivity are expected to benefit investors, entrepreneurs, tourists and pilgrims while giving fresh momentum to industrial development.
He said Gaya would establish a new identity as a major centre for modern manufacturing, industrial investment and employment generation.
Bihar offers considerable investment opportunities in sectors such as steel and metals, textiles, food processing, semiconductors and electronics, electric vehicles, automobiles and biofuels. Expanding industrial activity in these sectors would improve the utilisation of local resources and create new employment opportunities.
The Chief Minister said the government's resolve was to ensure that young people could receive education, develop skills and secure dignified employment within their home state. Linking industrial development with skill development, entrepreneurship and employment generation remains a key priority.
He added that expanding industries in Bihar would create more local employment opportunities and reduce the need for young people to migrate to other states for work. The government aims to create an environment in which young people can build their future in Bihar and investors from across India and abroad can establish industries in the state.
Bihar Business Connect 2027 to showcase investment opportunities
The Chief Minister said Bihar Business Connect 2027 would serve as a major platform for investors from India and abroad to explore the state's industrial potential, policy support and investment opportunities.
The event aims to familiarise investors with Bihar's development priorities, industrial infrastructure and opportunities across different sectors. The government, he emphasised, was focused not merely on signing MoUs but on converting investment commitments into operational projects.
The establishment of industrial units, commencement of production, creation of local jobs and expansion of economic activity would be the key indicators of successful industrial development.
The government is prioritising coordination with investors, a favourable policy environment and sustained industrial growth to turn investment proposals into concrete achievements.
Chief Minister appeals to the Bihar diaspora
Appealing to non-resident Biharis to maintain their connection with their homeland, the Chief Minister said the Bihar Foundation had established links with people in 55 countries.
He said people from Bihar had earned recognition across India and the world through their talent and hard work. Wherever they lived and worked, he urged them not to forget their roots and to contribute to the development of their home state.
The Chief Minister said Bihar had immense investment potential and the government was committed to establishing industries, expanding infrastructure and creating new employment opportunities.
Through Bihar Business Connect 2027, the state would showcase its industrial capabilities, investment opportunities and emerging prospects to national and international investors.
He expressed confidence that projects such as Bihar Integrated Manufacturing City in Gaya would strengthen Bihar's position on the country's industrial map, boost the state's economy and expand employment opportunities for young people.
