Raipur, November 2026: Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai on Thursday paid an emotional tribute to late Ahiwara MLA Doman Lal Korsewada at a condolence meeting held at Swami Atmanand Government School in Bhilai-3, Durg district.

The Chief Minister offered floral tributes to the portrait of the late legislator and announced that the Government College in Ahiwara would be named after Doman Lal Korsewada in recognition of his contributions to public service and society.

Sai said Korsewada’s demise was an irreparable loss to the political and social life of Chhattisgarh. Describing him as a simple, humble, soft-spoken and friendly public representative, the Chief Minister said he had dedicated his entire life to serving society and working for the upliftment of disadvantaged sections.

His contribution to the development of the Scheduled Caste community, social empowerment and the progress of his constituency would always be remembered, he added.

The Chief Minister said people affectionately addressed Korsewada as ‘Guruji’, a title reflecting the deep respect and trust he enjoyed among members of society. Through his conduct and work, he had earned a special place in people's hearts.

Sai said Korsewada’s commitment to public service and his ability to take people from all sections of society along with him would continue to inspire future generations.

Recalling his personal association with the late MLA, the Chief Minister shared an emotional account of their interaction during Korsewada’s hospitalisation in Hyderabad.

Sai said that when Korsewada was admitted to a hospital for treatment, he had personally called him to enquire about his health. He had also directed State Health Minister Shyam Bihari Jaiswal to visit Hyderabad and check on his well-being.

The Chief Minister said everyone had hoped that Korsewada would recover and return home, but fate had other plans. His passing away had caused deep sorrow to all those who knew him.

Sai observed that Korsewada had consistently prioritised the development of his constituency and the resolution of problems faced by ordinary people during his tenure as a public representative.

To preserve his memory and lasting legacy of public service, the government has decided to name the Ahiwara Government College after him. The Chief Minister said the decision would serve as a respectful tribute from the state government and the people of the region.

Several ministers and public representatives also paid tribute to the late MLA during the condolence meeting. They included School Education Minister Gajendra Yadav, Skill Development Minister Guru Khushwant Saheb, Raipur MP Brijmohan Agrawal and Jagdalpur MLA Kiran Dev.

Durg Rural MLA Lalit Chandrakar, Patan Janpad Panchayat Chairperson Kirti Nayak, Collector Abhijit Singh, Senior Superintendent of Police Vijay Agrawal, along with public representatives, officials and a large number of citizens from different areas, attended the gathering.

Those present offered floral tributes and remembered Korsewada’s contributions to public life and society.
