Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis Inaugurates Renovation Works at CPR Hospital

Expansion of state-of-the-art medical facilities while preserving the historic heritage site; various works undertaken with funding of more than Rs 600 crore


August 2026 : Kolhapur, August 9: Various renovation and modernisation works at Chhatrapati Pramilaraje General Hospital (CPR), Kolhapur, an important and historic government hospital in western Maharashtra, were inaugurated by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis in the presence of Deputy Chief Minister Sunetra Pawar through a ribbon-cutting ceremony and unveiling of the foundation stone.
With the objective of preserving the hospital's historic heritage while providing patients with state-of-the-art medical facilities, various works have been undertaken at the initiative of Medical Education Minister Hasan Mushrif. More than Rs 600 crore has so far been made available for these works.

At the beginning of the programme, Minister Hasan Mushrif welcomed Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and the dignitaries present. A short film highlighting the historic journey of CPR Hospital and its renovation and modernisation works was screened on the occasion. A picture of the hospital was also presented to the dignitaries. Portraits of Rajarshi Shahu Maharaj and late Digvijay Khanvilkar, the then state Health Minister, were also honoured on the occasion.
The renovation includes the hospital's main entrance arch, a modular burn ICU, a state-of-the-art operation theatre, a modular ICU, an MRI department, advanced diagnostic and treatment facilities, a shelter shed for patients' relatives, and modernisation of various medical departments. These facilities are expected to further strengthen the capacity and quality of healthcare services at CPR Hospital.

In addition, repairs to various hospital buildings, road and campus development, electrical systems, furniture, construction and modernisation of various departments, a trauma care centre, advanced operation facilities and various modular works have been undertaken. These facilities will enable citizens of Kolhapur and western Maharashtra to access stronger, modern and quality government healthcare services.
Deputy Chief Minister Sunetra Pawar, Assembly Speaker Adv. Rahul Narwekar, Public Health Minister and Guardian Minister Prakash Abitkar, Medical Education Minister Hasan Mushrif, Higher and Technical Education Minister Chandrakant (Dada) Patil, Co-Guardian Minister Madhuri Misal, State Planning Board Executive Chairman and MLA Rajesh Kshirsagar, Zilla Parishad President Shilpa Khot, Mayor Rooparani Nikam, MPs Dhananjay Mahadik and Shahu Maharaj Chhatrapati, MLAs Amal Mahadik, Chandradeep Narake, Rahul Awade and Ashokrao Mane, Principal Secretary Dheeraj Kumar, Commissioner Anil Bhandari, District Collector Dr Vijay Rathod, District Superintendent of Police Nilotpala, CPR Dean Dr Sadanand Bhise and others were present on the occasion.
