The Chinnor rice of Balaghat is centre of attraction at ongoing ‘Bharat Interenational Rice Conference’ at New Delhi. The Conference will conclude on October 25, 2026. The Madhya Pradesh State Agricultural Marketing Board (Mandi Board), Bhopal, and the Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA)are jointly promoting Chinnor rice.
Farmers Participate on Global Stage
The Lalbarra Chinnor Farmer Producer Company Limited (FPO) is representing Balaghat district at this global event. FPO Chairman Ishupal Chauhan and Board Member Radhelal Patle have been introducing national and international rice exporters, traders and delegates visiting the stalls are having deep appreciation to the quality, natural aroma, medicinal properties and traditional significance of Chinnor rice.
Engagement with International Buyers
The global platform has provided the local Farmer Producer Organisation (FPO) with a valuable opportunity to engage directly in business-to-business (B2B) interactions with major Indian exporters and international buyers.
This is expected to strengthen prospects for bringing Balaghat’s organically and traditionally cultivated Chinnor rice to international markets, directly benefiting local paddy farmers economically.
Renowned for its distinctive fragrance, soft texture after cooking and natural sweetness, Chinnor rice received its Geographical Indication (GI) tag in 2021. Visitors and exporters at Bharat Mandapam have been highly appreciative of this unique product, with the Chinnor rice stall attracting considerable attention at the prestigious event.
