State government committed to the overall development of Khatima: Chief Minister

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Tuesday performed the Bhoomi Pujan for a road widening project worth ₹14.97 crore, covering the stretch from Khatima Chowk to Tharu Vikas Bhawan. The ceremony was held at Rana Market on Sitarganj Road in Khatima.

The Chief Minister said the widening of the road would make commuting easier for local residents, traders and people travelling from neighbouring areas. The project would also improve traffic management and help reduce congestion on the busy stretch.

Expressing gratitude to the people of Khatima for their affection and support, Dhami said his relationship with the region was not merely that of an elected representative but was as strong as the unbreakable bond between a mother and her son. He said the love and blessings of the people continued to inspire him to serve the state.

Dhami said the state government was consistently working towards the overall development of Khatima. Several projects were being implemented to improve roads, education, healthcare, transport and other basic infrastructure in the region.

Highlighting initiatives in the education sector, he said important works had been undertaken, including the construction of a building at the Government Degree College and the modernisation of Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) and girls' schools.

The Chief Minister said road widening, bridge construction and the development of facilities such as a bus terminal were improving convenience for local residents.

He also highlighted measures being taken in the interest of farmers, stating that the operation of the sugar mill, timely crushing of sugarcane and prompt payment to farmers were among the government's priorities.

Dhami added that extensive work was underway to improve the drainage system in Khatima. The development of an Oxygen Park, Crocodile Park and religious sites would also give a boost to tourism activities in the region.

He said transforming Khatima into a clean, attractive town equipped with modern facilities remained one of his key priorities. The government would continue to pursue development projects in the area with commitment, he added.

Earlier, the Chief Minister walked from Khatima Chowk to the programme venue. Local residents welcomed him at several points along the route with flowers and garlands.

District Panchayat Chairperson Ajay Maurya, office-bearer Mohini Pokhariya, Santosh Gaurav, Gambhir Singh Dhami, Kishan Singh, Ranjit Singh Namdhari, BJP leader Satish Bhatt, Ramu Bharti, Additional District Magistrate Pankaj Upadhyay and other public representatives and officials were present at the event.
