India moving from ‘Vocal for Local’ to ‘Local to Global’: CM
New Delhi, August 2026 : Delhi Chief Minister Smt. Rekha Gupta on Friday participated in the Bharatiya Vyapar Mahotsav 2026 organised at Bharat Mandapam. Held on the occasion of Independence Day, the festival is an important national platform showcasing India’s economic strength, trade potential, entrepreneurship, innovation and self-reliance. On the occasion, the Chief Minister extended her best wishes to the Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) and the India Trade Promotion Organisation (ITPO) for organising the Bharatiya Vyapar Mahotsav 2026. She said the festival was not merely a trade exhibition, but an important opportunity to showcase the potential of the country’s traders, entrepreneurs, manufacturers, MSMEs and startups and highlight their contribution to India’s economic progress.
MP and CAIT Secretary General Praveen Khandelwal, CAIT National President B. C. Bhartia and other dignitaries were present on the occasion. Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said that under the leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji, the resolve of ‘Vocal for Local’, ‘Local to Global’ and ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ has now taken the shape of a mass movement. The country’s traders, entrepreneurs, startups, MSMEs and manufacturers are emerging as key drivers of this transformation. Products made in India are now gaining recognition beyond the country’s borders in global markets, while the Indian business community is playing an important role in establishing a new identity for India in global trade.
Delhi: A major centre of the country’s commercial vibrancy
The Chief Minister said Delhi is not only the national capital but also one of India’s major commercial capitals. Markets such as Chandni Chowk, Sadar Bazaar, Khari Baoli, Naya Bazaar, Gandhi Nagar and Karol Bagh are symbols of Delhi’s rich trading heritage and economic vibrancy. The city’s business community has long played an important role in driving the country’s economy.
She said the Delhi government is committed to creating a conducive, transparent and business-friendly environment for traders, MSMEs and entrepreneurs. Along with improving ease of doing business, digitisation, infrastructure and support for businesses, continuous work is also being undertaken to modernise Delhi’s markets, improve traffic management, strengthen cleanliness and expand civic amenities.
Growing Indian presence in the global market
Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said the world today views India as a reliable centre for trade, manufacturing and investment. The Bharatiya Vyapar Mahotsav is an important platform for introducing global buyers, investors and trade delegations to India’s production capabilities, products, services and entrepreneurship. Such events create greater opportunities to take Indian products and services to global markets, establish new business relationships and expand Indian businesses internationally. This is an important effort towards realising Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat and Viksit Bharat.
At the programme, MP and CAIT Secretary General Praveen Khandelwal thanked Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on behalf of the trading community for sharing information about the Delhi government’s plans for the comprehensive development of MSMEs, small industrialists and traders, as well as its upcoming initiatives, in line with Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji’s vision. He said the Chief Minister wants self-help groups (SHGs) to be promoted in Delhi and that his organisation, along with other business organisations, would make serious efforts towards this.
