Deepika Becomes Self-Reliant Through RSETI Training

Mahasamund: Running a boutique and beauty parlour in Bagbahara, Deepika Chandrakar earns Rs 20,000 to Rs 25,000 every month

Mahasamund, October 2026: Mrs Deepika Chandrakar, a resident of Bodridadar village in Bagbahara block of Mahasamund district, has taken a step towards self-employment after receiving training in tailoring and beauty parlour services from the Rural Self Employment Training Institute (RSETI).

After completing her training, Deepika assessed her skills and the potential of the local market before deciding to start her business. Instead of opening a shop in her village, she chose to set up her establishment in the nearby Bagbahara Nagar Panchayat area, where she believed she could reach a larger customer base.

Her decision has helped her become financially self-reliant while also making a significant contribution to her family’s income.

Deepika said that after receiving training from RSETI, she developed the confidence and motivation to start a business of her own. She realised that opening a shop in Bagbahara town, rather than operating one in her village, could provide access to more customers and better business opportunities.

With this objective, she started a boutique and beauty parlour in Bagbahara. The business did not require a large initial investment. Deepika invested around Rs 50,000 from her household savings to set up the shop.

The business, which began with limited capital, gradually started growing. Today, her boutique and beauty parlour generates a monthly income of around Rs 20,000 to Rs 25,000, providing her with a regular source of earnings.

Deepika said the RSETI training gave her the knowledge, confidence and guidance required to take up self-employment. The training helped her understand how to make better use of available resources and encouraged her to take an independent decision about starting her own enterprise.

She started the business on a small scale and gradually expanded her customer base. Her experience demonstrates how skill-based training and proper guidance can help rural women explore opportunities for self-employment and income generation.

By using the skills acquired through RSETI training and investing her own savings, Deepika has built a livelihood for herself and strengthened her family’s financial position. Her journey from receiving vocational training to running a successful boutique and beauty parlour highlights the potential of skill development initiatives in promoting entrepreneurship and economic self-reliance among people in rural areas.
