Directs Authorities to Ensure Quality, Planned Development While Preserving the Ancient Heritage of Mayureshwar Temple
Baramati, Aug 2026 : Deputy Chief Minister Sunetra Ajit Pawar on Sunday directed officials to ensure that development and restoration works at the Shri Kshetra Mayureshwar Ganpati Temple are carried out in a high-quality and planned manner while preserving the religious and historical significance of the ancient shrine.
She stressed that the original architectural character of the temple must remain intact and that modern facilities should be integrated without compromising its heritage value. The development and restoration works in the temple premises should be completed strictly in accordance with the approved plan and with due emphasis on quality, she said.
Deputy Chief Minister Pawar inspected the Shri Kshetra Mayureshwar Ganpati Temple premises in Baramati taluka as well as the Late Ajitdada Pawar Government Ayurvedic College and Hospital at Medad. During the visit, she reviewed ongoing and proposed development works and sought detailed information from officials and local representatives.
While reviewing the works at the Mayureshwar Temple, Pawar instructed officials to undertake restoration strictly as per the sanctioned plan. She directed that cleanliness in the temple premises and sanctum sanctorum be accorded the highest priority. She also stressed the need for an effective drainage system to ensure proper disposal of rainwater during the monsoon.
Pawar further directed officials to maintain continuous coordination with local villagers and take them into confidence while implementing development projects.
Making it clear that no compromise would be tolerated on the quality of development works, she instructed authorities to take strict action against contractors found guilty of negligence or improper execution. Contractors undertaking substandard or faulty work would be blacklisted, she warned.
Inspection of Government Ayurvedic College and Hospital
Deputy Chief Minister Pawar subsequently inspected the Late Ajitdada Pawar Government Ayurvedic College and Hospital at Medad. She directed officials to expedite the proposal for the required expansion of the institutional limits to facilitate the development of roads within the college campus.
She also called for comprehensive planning to ensure that the college and hostel facilities become fully operational, keeping in mind the educational and residential requirements of students.
During the inspection, Pawar reviewed the college, hostel and various facilities on the campus and obtained details from officials regarding the current status of ongoing development works.
Earlier, Deputy Chief Minister Sunetra Ajit Pawar offered prayers and took darshan at the Shri Kshetra Mayureshwar Ganpati Temple.
Zilla Parishad President Veerdhaval Jagdale, Panchayat Samiti Chairman Kiran Taware, Zilla Parishad member Rohini Kadam (Dhole), Municipal Council President Sachin Satav, Archaeology Department Assistant Director Vilas Vahane, Sub-Divisional Officer Uttam Dighe, Tehsildar Swapnil Ravade, Block Development Officer Kiran Mane, Chief Officer Pankaj Bhuse, Dean of the Late Ajitdada Pawar Government Ayurvedic College and Hospital Dr Anil Kale, and Morgaon Devasthan trustee Devraj Dahale, among others, were present during the inspection.
