Jaipur, August 2026: Director General of Police Rajeev Kumar Sharma chaired a review meeting on crime control and law and order in Rajasthan. Police Commissioners, Range Inspectors General, Deputy Commissioners of Police and District Superintendents of Police joined the meeting through video conferencing from across the state.
The meeting reviewed the state’s law and order situation, crime control, investigation, departmental proceedings and the progress of various special operations. Officers were directed to ensure effective and time-bound action on all fronts.
Comparative Crime Situation and Review of Serious Cases
The meeting discussed a comparative analysis of crime figures for 2024, 2025 and up to July 2026. Information was reviewed regarding recovery and charge-sheeting rates in property-related crimes, crimes against women, POCSO cases and action taken so far in sensational cases. The status of disposal of cases within 60 and 90 days, e-evidence and summons was also reviewed.
Focus on Strengthening Law and Order
DGP Rajeev Kumar Sharma directed officials to make sustained and effective efforts to further strengthen law and order in the state in accordance with the directions of Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma.
He directed officers to ensure swift and stringent action against criminals by effectively enforcing the provisions of the new criminal laws. Special emphasis was placed on e-Zero FIRs, disposal of registered cases within the prescribed time frame, increasing the number of e-Evidence IDs and ensuring service of e-Summons.
The DGP also directed officials to effectively monitor these systems and maximise the use of technology in policing.
All Inspectors General of Police and Commissioners presented the crime situation and police action in their respective ranges. The presentations covered comparative crime figures, action taken by the police and the progress of various special campaigns.
Sensitive and Swift Action in Crimes Against Women and Children
During the review of crimes against women and POCSO cases, officers were instructed to complete investigations swiftly and sensitively, provide necessary assistance to victims and ensure disposal of cases within the prescribed time frame.
Faster Departmental Inquiries and Effective Monitoring
The meeting also discussed matters relating to the Vigilance Branch. Officers were directed to submit proposals for departmental action and departmental inquiry reports on time in accordance with the prescribed circulars and to expedite the disposal of pending departmental inquiries.
Special emphasis was placed on taking action under Rule 38(A) of the CCA Rules instead of Sections 16/17 of the CCA during the probation period, securing vacation of stays in cases pending before courts, and ensuring speedy disposal of pending departmental proceedings against police personnel involved in criminal activities.
Officials were also instructed to ensure effective supervision at the competent level and regular monitoring of pending departmental proceedings under the Rajasthan Civil Services (Classification, Control and Appeal) Rules.
Special Focus on Cybercrime
In view of the growing incidence of cybercrime, the meeting reviewed the availability of staff against sanctioned posts in cyber police stations operating across the districts.
The comparative status of FIRs registered and arrests made in cybercrime cases was discussed, along with the identification of mule bank accounts and cybercrime hotspots and progress in action against hotspots associated with SIM cards used in cyber offences.
Officials were directed to strengthen action against agents and victims involved in cyber-slavery cases and continue coordinated action against international cybercrime networks. Emphasis was also placed on the speedy disposal of complaints received through OCWC and the Tipline.
Action Against Drugs and Review of ‘Lakshman Rekha’ Campaign
During discussions on matters related to the ATS, AGTF and ANTF, emphasis was placed on establishing Narco Cells in districts, improving coordination with central agencies, regularly uploading meeting-related information on the NCORD portal and strengthening financial investigations in cases involving commercial quantities of narcotic substances.
Officials were also directed to organise maximum public awareness camps in the districts under the ‘Lakshman Rekha’ campaign and ensure speedy disposal of complaints pending on the Manas Portal.
Strict Monitoring of Organised Crime and Hardcore Criminals
The DGP directed districts to keep CCTNS data relating to hardcore criminals updated and upload necessary information on the Organised Crime Network Data (OCND) portal within the prescribed time.
The progress of special operations being conducted against various categories of crime was also reviewed. Officers were instructed to ensure sustained and effective action against criminals.
SPs to Personally Supervise Examination-Related Crimes
District Superintendents of Police were directed to personally supervise cases involving dummy candidates, paper leaks, fake degrees or certificates and cheating in competitive and recruitment examinations.
Officials were also instructed to ensure strict compliance with prescribed Standard Operating Procedures during various examinations.
In addition, officers were directed to personally monitor pending investigations related to Nexa Evergreen City, Adarsh Credit Cooperative Society and RGHS.
Special Cell to Monitor Fraud in Government Schemes
The DGP directed officials to appoint nodal officers and constitute special cells to monitor cases of fraud involving government schemes such as Samman Nidhi, Janani Suraksha and the Pradhan Mantri Insurance Scheme.
Preparations for Next-Gen e-Challan System Reviewed
Preparations for implementing the Next-Gen e-Challan System under the Traffic Branch were also discussed. Officials were directed to complete all preparations required for the new system within the stipulated time.
Police Welfare Issues Also Discussed
The meeting also reviewed the timely disposal of complaints filed by retired officers and employees through the Rajasthan Police Pension Portal, timely forwarding of scholarship applications under the Rajasthan Police Benevolent Fund and various benefits available to newly recruited constables under the Police Salary Package.
DGP Sharma directed officers to ensure that crime control, law and order, public safety and accountability in policing remain the highest priorities of the Rajasthan Police.
He emphasised the need for continuous analysis of crime trends in districts, formulation of effective strategies, time-bound disposal of pending cases and maximum use of technology and public participation in policing.
DGP Law and Order Sanjay Agarwal and all ADGs were present at the meeting. ADG Bipin Kumar Pandey presented the meeting agenda.
Key Achievements at a Glance
Sharp decline in crime rate: Compared with 2024, total crime in Rajasthan declined by 17.25 per cent in 2026 up to July, while property-related crime registered a substantial 32.32 per cent decline.
Reduction in serious crimes and POCSO cases: Compared with 2025, POCSO cases declined by 21.56 per cent, dacoity by 25.49 per cent, robbery by 20.84 per cent, rape of adults by 10.67 per cent and attempted murder by 9.81 per cent in 2026.
Success in special operations: During the special campaign conducted from July 20 to August 2, 2026, 1,248 wanted and organised criminals were arrested. In addition, 614 NDPS cases, 226 Arms Act cases and 474 illegal mining cases were registered, while 426 cybercriminals were arrested.
Traffic and SLL enforcement: Action under Special and Local Laws increased by 5.57 per cent. A total of 3,73,104 traffic enforcement actions were taken, including 1,69,089 under the Motor Vehicles Act, 87,357 for riding without helmets and 80,023 for overspeeding.
Digital safety and national ranking: Police succeeded in getting 98.8 per cent of social media posts related to crimes against women and children and 88.8 per cent of posts threatening communal harmony taken down. Rajasthan ranked second among large states in the implementation of new criminal laws and e-governance, with an overall national rank of 8 and a score of 86.11. The state’s ITSSO compliance rate stood at 91.3 per cent.
