Fadnavis Warns Criminal Gangs After Tiger Shroff Attack, Vows Action Against International Networks

Mumbai, Oct 2026 : Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Monday issued a stern warning to criminal syndicates following the shooting incident involving Bollywood actor Tiger Shroff, asserting that Mumbai Police would track down those responsible and dismantle networks operating from outside the state and the country.

Condemning the perpetrators as cowards who allegedly operate from concealed locations through hired associates, Fadnavis said the state government would not allow criminal gangs to challenge law enforcement agencies or threaten public safety.

The Chief Minister said investigators had made progress in tracing the suspects and identifying individuals believed to be behind the attack. He added that Maharashtra Police were coordinating with central intelligence agencies to investigate the alleged links extending beyond India's borders.

“The police will find the accused, and their masterminds have also been found. Therefore, I can say with certainty that such incidents will not be tolerated. The Mumbai Police will definitely track down the accused. No one can openly challenge the police,” Fadnavis said.

Describing the suspected perpetrators as people who relied on others to carry out criminal acts, he said their operations would be met with decisive action.

“These are cowardly people. They hide somewhere and boast from there. They don't have the courage. These are kind of hired people, and those who operate based on them,” he said.

Fadnavis noted that investigating such cases posed additional challenges when the suspected perpetrators operated from outside Maharashtra or from foreign locations. However, he maintained that coordination between Mumbai Police and central agencies would help investigators pursue the wider network.

“The challenge the police definitely face in this is that they do not operate from Maharashtra; they operate from outside the country. By contacting the Central government agencies, the Mumbai Police will annihilate these gangs operating from outside Maharashtra and the country,” he added.

The Chief Minister said public safety remained the government's foremost responsibility, regardless of whether the people targeted were celebrities or ordinary citizens. Specialised police teams have been assigned to investigate the incident, with the government promising action against those directly involved as well as any alleged masterminds identified during the probe.

Shinde Visits Tiger Shroff's Family

Earlier, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde condemned the attack as extremely unfortunate and said the actor had fortunately survived the incident.

Shinde visited Shroff at his residence to enquire about his health and offer support to the family. He said the incident had caused considerable anxiety among the actor's relatives, particularly his mother, Ayesha Shroff.

According to the Deputy Chief Minister, the family was under severe mental stress following the attack, especially because the young actor had reportedly no known personal dispute that would explain such a violent incident.

Shinde said Mumbai Police had taken serious cognisance of the case and that the Police Commissioner had formed a special team to identify and apprehend those responsible.

He assured the family that the authorities would pursue the investigation and take strict action against the accused. Shinde also said instructions had been issued to the Mumbai Police Commissioner to review security arrangements for actors and other members of the film industry.

Warning to Gangs Threatening Celebrities

The Deputy Chief Minister's remarks came amid concerns over threats allegedly issued by criminal syndicates against celebrities and other prominent individuals in Mumbai and Maharashtra.

Referring to reports of threats associated with the Lawrence Bishnoi gang and other criminal groups, Shinde said the government would not tolerate attempts to intimidate artists or create fear among the public.

“The terror of any gang or attempts to threaten celebrities in Mumbai or Maharashtra will not be tolerated. Anyone attempting to do so will be given a fitting reply by the police,” he said.

Recalling Mumbai's history of organised crime and gang-related violence, Shinde pointed to the police action that weakened criminal networks during the 1990s. He warned that anyone attempting to revive similar intimidation tactics would face strict legal action.

“The security of ordinary citizens and celebrities is the top priority of the government. Artists in the film industry have no reason to panic following such incidents,” he said.

Shinde also appealed to anyone receiving threatening calls or messages from criminal gangs to report them immediately to Mumbai Police. He assured members of the film industry that the government stood firmly behind them and would take necessary steps to protect their safety.

The statements by both senior leaders signal a tougher public stance against organised crime following the attack. The investigation will now focus on establishing the circumstances of the incident, identifying the alleged shooters and determining whether the attack was orchestrated by a wider criminal network.

Authorities have promised strict action, while the police investigation will be crucial in establishing responsibility and bringing those involved to justice.
