Panaji, October 2026 : Goa Health Minister Vishwajit Rane on Friday expressed confidence that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), under Chief Minister Pramod Sawant's leadership, would return to power in the 2027 Assembly elections, asserting that the government remained united and committed to the state's development.
Speaking at the inauguration of MRI and echocardiography facilities at the South Goa District Hospital, Rane dismissed speculation about differences between him and Sawant. He maintained that the BJP government was working collectively for the welfare of Goa and its people.
“We are all united. There are no differences between us. We are all working under the Chief Minister for the good of Goa and its people. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, we have been able to achieve so much development in the state,” Rane said.
The minister also criticised the Congress over its Goy Rakhonn Yatra, arguing that street marches alone could not protect Goa or resolve the challenges facing the state. He said political campaigns needed to be backed by a clear vision and a practical roadmap for development.
“What is required is a clear roadmap for the state's development, which has been demonstrated by the BJP government under Chief Minister Pramod Sawant,” Rane said, reiterating his confidence in the party's prospects in the next Assembly elections.
Responding to reports that the Congress-led Goy Rakhonn Yatra had entered his constituency, Rane said participants would have seen the development undertaken in the area during the BJP government's tenure.
The minister's remarks come amid increasing political activity ahead of the 2027 Goa Assembly elections. The Congress has been using the Goy Rakhonn Yatra to highlight issues affecting the state and raise concerns about its governance.
Rane's statements sought to project unity within the ruling BJP and emphasise the government's development agenda as the party prepares for the next electoral contest. His confidence in the BJP's return to power also signals the political significance the ruling party is attaching to its record of governance in Goa.
