10 Lakh Financial Assistance to Each District for Campaign Activities
“The Tiranga is Our Identity and Our Pride”: Culture Minister Shri Suryabanshi Suraj
Bhubaneswar August, 2026 : The "Har Ghar Tiranga" campaign will be organised across Odisha from 9th to 17th August under the aegis of the Odia Language, Literature & Culture Department. Various programmes will be conducted across the State to celebrate the spirit of patriotism and encourage people to participate in the campaign.
Culture Minister Shri Suryabanshi Suraj detailed the programmes planned under the campaign at a press conference held at the Conference Hall of the Sanskruti Bhavan in Bhubaneswar on Saturday.
Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said that the "Har Ghar Tiranga" campaign will be organised across Odisha under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Shri Mohan Charan Majhi. From the capital city of Bhubaneswar to the block and panchayat levels, the campaign will be observed with wide public participation.
To facilitate the successful implementation of the campaign, the Odia Language, Literature & Culture Department has provided financial assistance of Rs 10 lakh to each district.
A State-level "Tiranga Rally" will be organised on 9th August under the aegis of the Sports & Youth Services Department, with the support of various departments of the Government of Odisha. Chief Minister Shri Mohan Charan Majhi will attend the programme as the Chief Guest.
The rally will be organised from Hatiasuni Ground to Lumbini Vihar Road. Government officials, youth, voluntary organisations, sportspersons, students, NCC and NSS volunteers, along with people from across Odisha, will participate in the rally. Similar Tiranga rallies will also be organised at the district level.
As part of the campaign, 60 lakh national flags will be prepared by women Self-Help Groups under the Mission Shakti Department and distributed across all districts of the State. As of noon on 8th August, around 45.40 lakh flags have already been prepared. The Odia Language, Literature & Culture Department has provided Rs 15 crore to the Mission Shakti Department for the preparation of the flags.
The Culture Minister said it was a matter of pride that flags prepared by women members of Odisha’s Self-Help Groups would reach households across the State.
On 14th August, the Odisha Sahitya Akademi will organise the State-level observance of Partition Horrors Remembrance Day. Similar programmes will also be organised across all districts. The State-level programme will feature a photo exhibition, screening of short films and a theatrical presentation depicting the experiences and impact of Partition. Families affected by Partition will be invited to share their experiences and will also be felicitated. Following the programme, a silent candle march wil also be organised.
The State-level Independence Day celebration will be organised on 15th August under the aegis of the Information & Public Relations Department. The Odisha Sangeet Natak Akademi will organise a patriotic musical programme titled "Bharatiyam" at Rabindra Mandap. A special concert will also be organised to commemorate the 150th anniversary of "Vande Mataram".
The celebrations will also feature sand art, a large-scale rangoli exhibition and "Selfie with Tiranga" booths.
From 9th to 17th August, citizens can take selfies with the Tiranga and upload their photographs on the "Har Ghar Tiranga "website. Participants will also be able to download their digital certificates. An online quiz competition will also be organised through the MyGov portal. Students of schools, colleges and universities will participate in the "Har Ghar Tiranga" campaign and take part in the online quiz.
Emphasising that the "Har Ghar Tiranga" campaign is not merely a government programme, Culture Minister Shri Suryabanshi Suraj said that it provides an opportunity for every citizen to come together in paying tribute to the motherland.
“Tiranga is our identity and our pride,” the Minister said, appealing to private institutions, voluntary organisations, NGOs and the people of Odisha to actively participate in the "Har Ghar Tiranga" campaign and make it a grand success.
He urged citizens across the State to display the national flag at their homes and join the celebrations in the spirit of patriotism and national unity.
