Raipur, October 2026: Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai attended Karam Puja Parab 2026, organised by the Oraon (Sarna) Adivasi Vikas Sangh, Raipur, at the premises of the Akhil Bharatiya Vanvasi Kalyan Ashram in the state capital. On the occasion, the Chief Minister performed traditional worship of Karam Raja and prayed for prosperity, happiness and well-being for the people of Chhattisgarh. He inaugurated the programme by lighting a ceremonial lamp before a portrait of Bharat Mata.

Addressing the gathering, Chief Minister Sai said that Karam Parab is an integral part of the state's rich tribal culture, glorious traditions and the priceless heritage of its ancestors. The festival expresses people's faith in, love for and respect for nature. He said that the tradition developed by their ancestors of living in harmony with nature continues to convey an important message to society even today.

Karam Parab, he added, symbolises this way of life and connects people with the values of nature conservation, social unity and collective living.

The Chief Minister said Chhattisgarh is identified by its rich tribal culture, folk festivals, traditions and deep connection with nature. Various tribal communities in the state have preserved their distinctive cultural traditions across generations. Karam Parab is one such glorious tradition, during which people express gratitude to nature and pray for the prosperity and well-being of their families and communities.

The festival inspires people to remain connected to their roots and move forward with mutual love, brotherhood and harmony, he said.

Chief Minister Sai said that culture and traditions are not merely occasions for celebration; they embody the knowledge and values of ancestors as well as the spirit of keeping society united. Preserving these traditions and passing them on to future generations is a collective responsibility.

He emphasised that while progressing with modernity, it is equally important to preserve one's cultural identity. The state's rich cultural heritage will continue to flourish only when the younger generation remains connected with its language, folk songs, folk dances and traditional festivals.

The Chief Minister said celebrations such as Karam Parab bring members of the community together on a common platform and strengthen mutual relationships. Such occasions also provide younger people with an opportunity to learn about their traditions and customs from senior members of the community.

Appreciating the efforts of the Oraon community to preserve and promote its cultural traditions, he said active participation by the community would help safeguard its heritage for future generations.

On the occasion, Chief Minister Sai announced the construction of a community hall for the Oraon community in Ganod village of Raipur district at a cost of ₹50 lakh.

He said the facility would provide better infrastructure for organising social, cultural and community activities. It would also help members of the community come together and promote their traditions and cultural activities.

Chief Minister Sai said Chhattisgarh's diverse tribal traditions are an important foundation of the state's cultural richness. These traditions convey a meaningful message of respect for nature, collective spirit, mutual cooperation and social harmony.

He emphasised that taking pride in one's culture and traditions, while preserving and promoting them, is the moral responsibility of every individual.

Extending his heartfelt greetings and best wishes to everyone on Karam Puja Parab, the Chief Minister said cultural heritage is both the identity and strength of society. He expressed hope that the festival would bring happiness, prosperity and well-being to everyone and further strengthen the spirit of love, unity and brotherhood in society.

Office-bearers of the Akhil Bharatiya Vanvasi Kalyan Ashram, community leader Bindeshwar Bhagat, representatives of the Oraon (Sarna) Adivasi Vikas Sangh, senior members of the community, and a large number of community members and families were present on the occasion.
