Santoshni Dahariya of Dauna Village Provides Employment to Two Other Women
Raipur, August 2026 : In line with the vision of Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, the Mahatari Vandan Yojana is being implemented with the objective of promoting the economic empowerment of women. Regular financial assistance under the scheme is providing women with renewed encouragement to move towards self-reliance. Many women in the district are using the financial assistance for self-employment as well as to meet their family’s essential needs.
As part of this initiative, Smt. Santoshni Dahariya, a resident of Dauna village in Pathariya development block of Mungeli district, started a tailoring business from her home and is now providing employment to two other women. Her sewing machine has become a means of achieving self-reliance.
After the death of her husband, the responsibility of raising her two young children fell on her shoulders. However, instead of surrendering to difficult circumstances, she turned her skill into her strength and transformed tailoring into a strong source of livelihood.
Santoshni said that she uses the financial assistance received under the Mahatari Vandan Yojana to purchase essential materials required for tailoring, which provides her with valuable financial support. She already knew tailoring and therefore started working from home with a sewing machine.
While managing her household responsibilities and taking care of her children, she continued tailoring work regularly. During the initial period, her income was limited, but her determination and confidence to move forward remained strong.
With continuous hard work and improvement in the quality of her work, she gradually began receiving more tailoring orders. Over time, she opened a small tailoring shop in front of her house. Today, the same work has become a strong source of income for her family.
Her journey reflects how timely financial assistance, combined with individual skills and determination, can help women become economically independent. What began as a small home-based activity has now grown into a livelihood that not only supports her family but also provides employment opportunities to two other women.
