Mumbai, Aug 2026 : Maharashtra Minister of State for School Education Dr. Pankaj Bhoyar reviewed the renovation of Mahatma Gandhi School and Junior College in Wardha and the proposed construction of the Dr. Panjabrao Deshmukh Educational Complex in Amravati at a meeting held at Mantralaya.
MLA Sanjay Khodke, Principal Secretary of the School Education Department Ranjitsingh Deol, and senior officials from the School Education and Public Works departments attended the meeting.
Dr. Bhoyar directed the concerned agencies to work in coordination and undertake detailed planning to renovate the historic Mahatma Gandhi School and Junior College building while preserving its architectural identity. The objective is to develop it as a model educational complex for Wardha district.
The renovation plan includes upgrading the school and junior college building, developing modern sports grounds, constructing a compound wall and providing state-of-the-art facilities for students. A major science centre and planetarium are also proposed on the campus, which Dr. Bhoyar said would give a new direction to the educational sector in Wardha.
He instructed officials to ensure that the renovation work is completed quickly, with high quality and an attractive design. Before the renovation begins, a proposal should be submitted to secure funds through the District Planning Committee for construction of the compound wall.
Considering the proposed development and improved facilities, the school is expected to attract more students in the future. Dr. Bhoyar therefore stressed the need to upgrade all playgrounds and ensure that students have access to the required facilities.
The meeting also reviewed the proposed Dr. Panjabrao Deshmukh Educational Complex in Amravati, which will bring various offices of the Education Department under one roof. The existing office buildings are old and damaged and are no longer suitable for use.
The proposed complex will include an administrative building as well as residential facilities for officers and employees. Dr. Bhoyar directed the concerned department to ensure that the design and overall plan of the proposed complex are of a high standard and meet future requirements.
