Nashik and Trimbakeshwar to Get a Major Makeover Through Kumbh Mela Development Works: CM Devendra Fadnavis

Maharashtra CM inspects key infrastructure projects, directs officials to ensure timely and quality completion

Nashik, October 2026: Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Sunday expressed confidence that the ongoing development projects in Nashik and Trimbakeshwar ahead of the upcoming Simhastha Kumbh Mela would transform the two destinations.

He said the projects were being planned with a vision for the next 25 to 30 years, focusing on modern infrastructure and improved facilities for devotees, tourists and local residents. Fadnavis directed officials to accelerate the work and ensure that all projects were completed within the stipulated timelines without compromising on quality.

Ahead of the flag-hoisting ceremony associated with the Simhastha Maha Kumbh Mela, the Chief Minister inspected development works at Darshanpath and Goda Ghat in Trimbakeshwar, Dwarka Circle in Nashik and Ozar Airport. He reviewed the progress of the projects, their current status and future plans with officials, instructing the concerned agencies to expedite execution.

Guardian Minister Girish Mahajan, Principal Secretary of the Water Conservation Department and Guardian Secretary Eknath Dawale, MLA Hiraman Khoskar, Special Inspector General of Police Sanjay Ainpure, Simhastha Kumbh Mela Authority Commissioner Shekhar Singh, District Collector Ayush Prasad, Superintendent of Police Dr S. V. Swami and Trimbakeshwar Municipal Council President Triveni Tungar were among those present. Officials from the Maharashtra State Infrastructure Development Corporation (MSIDC), including Brijesh Dixit, and other departmental representatives also attended.

Infrastructure planned for the next 25–30 years

Fadnavis emphasised that the projects being undertaken for the Kumbh Mela were not limited to the religious gathering but would lay a strong foundation for the long-term development of Nashik and Trimbakeshwar.

He said the initiatives would support the transition towards modern urban infrastructure by improving transportation, strengthening civic facilities, addressing residents' concerns and providing better amenities for pilgrims and tourists.

Development work related to the airport would also gain momentum in the next phase, he added.

The Chief Minister said various departments and agencies were working in coordination to ensure the comprehensive development of both Nashik and Trimbakeshwar.

Coordination among agencies crucial

Fadnavis said the projects were being implemented through coordinated efforts involving the municipal corporation, Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC), Simhastha Kumbh Mela Authority, district administration, police and other relevant departments.

He appreciated the coordination among the Guardian Minister, elected representatives and officials, noting that the agencies were functioning as a unified team.

The Chief Minister congratulated all departments and agencies contributing to the progress of the development works and particularly praised the significant projects being undertaken by MSRDC.

Trimbakeshwar development to boost religious tourism

Reviewing the work at Darshanpath and Goda Ghat in Trimbakeshwar, Fadnavis said the projects were challenging but progressing in a planned manner. They would play an important role in transforming the area, he added.

Considering the growing number of devotees visiting Trimbakeshwar from across the country, the government was developing the necessary infrastructure and facilities. These improvements would also help enhance the town's prominence as a religious tourism destination.

Dwarka Circle and Ozar Airport projects reviewed

The Chief Minister described the redevelopment of Dwarka Circle in Nashik as an important and challenging project. He said the work was progressing rapidly according to plan and was moving towards completion ahead of the scheduled deadline.

Officials informed him that drainage tests had been conducted at the site during the current monsoon season. Necessary measures had been taken to prevent waterlogging and ensure the smooth drainage of rainwater.

Fadnavis subsequently inspected the expansion work at Ozar Airport. He directed officials to pay particular attention to essential infrastructure and services for the devotees and tourists expected to visit Nashik for the Simhastha Kumbh Mela.

MLAs Professor Devyani Pharande and Rahul Dhikle, Police Commissioner Sandeep Karnik, MSRDC officials, Kumbh Mela Commissioner Shekhar Singh, Municipal Commissioner Manisha Khatri, District Collector Ayush Prasad and other officials were also present during the inspections.
