Jerusalem, Aug 2026 : Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Friday thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his continued efforts to strengthen the India-Israel relationship, a day after the two leaders held a telephone conversation to review progress in their Special Strategic Partnership and discuss the evolving situation in West Asia.
“Thank you, my friend, Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi. Together we continue to strengthen the bond between Israel and India,” Netanyahu wrote on X in response to a post by Modi about their conversation.
During the telephone call on Thursday evening, the two leaders reviewed developments across several areas of the India-Israel Special Strategic Partnership and exchanged views on the prevailing situation in West Asia.
Modi said in a post on X that the bilateral partnership continued to grow steadily and that the two leaders had discussed regional developments.
According to the Prime Minister’s Office, Modi and Netanyahu reaffirmed their commitment to further expanding bilateral cooperation across multiple sectors for the mutual benefit of the two countries. The two leaders also agreed to remain in regular contact.
The latest conversation comes amid continuing developments in West Asia, making sustained communication between India and Israel significant as both countries monitor the regional security environment.
India and Israel have significantly expanded their relationship over the past decade, with cooperation extending beyond traditional diplomatic and defence ties to areas such as technology, agriculture, water management, healthcare, cybersecurity and innovation.
In February, Modi travelled to Israel for a two-day State Visit at Netanyahu’s invitation, accompanied by a high-level delegation of senior ministers and government officials.
During that visit, the two leaders recalled Modi’s landmark trip to Israel in 2017 and Netanyahu’s visit to India in 2018. Both visits were described as important milestones that helped establish a stronger foundation for expanded bilateral cooperation.
The two sides noted the considerable progress achieved across several sectors, including emerging technologies, cybersecurity, agriculture, water management, healthcare, entrepreneurship, defence and security.
The leaders also agreed to take the bilateral relationship to a new level by describing it as a “Special Strategic Partnership for Peace, Innovation and Prosperity”.
The latest exchange between Modi and Netanyahu reflects the continued political engagement between New Delhi and Jerusalem and their efforts to deepen cooperation across strategic and economic sectors.
As both countries seek to expand collaboration in technology, defence, innovation and other emerging areas, regular communication between their leadership is expected to remain an important component of the partnership.
