737 nomination papers filed on second day; total reaches 785, with 689 candidates entering the fray
Jaipur, August 2026 : Election-related activities have intensified in Jaipur district with the nomination process for the Urban Local Body General Elections 2026 gathering pace. By the end of the second day of nominations, a total of 785 nomination papers had been filed for the councillor posts across 690 wards in 19 urban local bodies in the district. Based on these nominations, 689 candidates have so far submitted their papers to contest the elections.
District Election Officer Sandesh Nayak said that 48 nomination papers were filed on the first day of the process, August 27, involving 39 candidates. On the second day, August 29, as many as 737 nomination papers were filed by 650 candidates. The figures indicate a significant increase in nomination activity over the two days.
For the 150 wards of Jaipur Municipal Corporation, a total of 99 nomination papers have been filed so far, involving 92 candidates. In Shahpura Municipal Council, 102 nomination papers have been filed by 91 candidates. Similarly, Chomu Municipal Council has received 84 nomination papers from 83 candidates, while Chaksu Municipality has recorded 99 nomination papers involving 63 candidates.
Candidates have also shown considerable enthusiasm in other urban local bodies across the district. Bagru has received 72 nomination papers, Bassi 36, Dudu 26, Jamwaramgarh 28, Jobner 16, Kaladera 7, Kanota 6, Khejroli 11, Kishangarh-Renwal 25, Manoharpur 39, Naraina 36, Phagi 47, Phulera 22, Sambhar 28 and Vatika 2 nomination papers.
Nominations can be filed until August 31
As per the election schedule issued by the State Election Commission, August 31, 2026, has been fixed as the last date for filing nomination papers for member posts.
The scrutiny of nomination papers will be conducted on September 1. Candidates will be allowed to withdraw their nominations until 3 pm on September 3. Following the withdrawal process, election symbols will be allotted on September 4.
