Amaravati, Oct 2026 : Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister and Jana Sena Party chief Pawan Kalyan on Sunday called for adequate representation for his party’s leaders and cadres in the upcoming local body elections, citing their sacrifices and contribution to the formation and success of the ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA).
Addressing party workers at the launch of the ‘Adivi Thalli Bata 2.0’ programme at Kakavada in the Rampachodavaram constituency of Polavaram district, Pawan Kalyan said the Jana Sena Party and its cadres, known as Janasainiks, had worked selflessly for the alliance and deserved recognition in local governance.
He said the party’s workers had prioritised the interests of Andhra Pradesh during the 2024 general elections, without aspiring for political positions or personal benefits. He expressed hope that the upcoming local body elections would provide opportunities for Janasainiks and ensure their future within the political alliance.
“The Jana Sena Party and Janasainiks have made many sacrifices for the formation and success of the alliance. In recognition of their sacrifices, they should be given adequate representation in local bodies in accordance with the alliance dharma,” he said.
Pawan Kalyan appealed to people to support the NDA in the forthcoming local body elections, stating that the coalition government would continue to undertake development initiatives across the state. He emphasised that leaders and cadres of the Jana Sena Party and other alliance partners must work in coordination and actively participate in village-level development.
He also urged alliance leaders to stand by workers who had contributed to the coalition’s success, ensuring they received appropriate recognition and respect.
Recalling the political struggles preceding the 2024 elections, Pawan Kalyan said Janasainiks had worked for the state’s future without demanding positions of power. He also referred to the period when Telugu Desam Party (TDP) chief N. Chandrababu Naidu was arrested, saying Jana Sena workers and ‘Veera Mahilas’, the party’s women cadres, had taken to the streets to express solidarity.
He stressed that the alliance should not forget those who had stood by it during difficult times.
“We must never forget the sacrifices of those who stood by us during difficult times. In the upcoming local body elections, we must respect the alliance dharma and ensure appropriate representation for Janasainiks and Veera Mahilas,” he said.
The Deputy Chief Minister added that the coalition must honour the trust of workers who had supported it without seeking political office.
Apart from the political message, Pawan Kalyan highlighted the government’s focus on improving connectivity and access to essential services in tribal regions through the ‘Adivi Thalli Bata’ programme.
He said the initiative aimed to connect remote tribal habitations through road construction and improve access to education, healthcare, employment opportunities, transportation and markets.
According to Pawan Kalyan, the programme was being implemented with the cooperation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and under the leadership of Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu. It brings together schemes such as the Pradhan Mantri Janjati Adivasi Nyaya Maha Abhiyan (PM-JANMAN), Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana-IV (PMGSY-IV) and the Employment Guarantee Scheme.
He said the first phase covered areas in Polavaram, Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Nandyal and Eluru districts. Under that phase, works worth Rs 1,406 crore were undertaken to construct 1,662 kilometres of roads connecting 858 tribal habitations.
Under ‘Adivi Thalli Bata 2.0’, the government has sanctioned 2,569 works worth Rs 2,052 crore. These projects aim to build 1,976 kilometres of roads and 45 bridges to connect another 1,341 tribal habitations.
Pawan Kalyan said improved connectivity would help remote communities access essential services and markets, supporting their integration into the state’s broader development process. The programme combines the government’s tribal development agenda with the alliance’s efforts to strengthen infrastructure in underserved areas.
