New Delhi, Nov 2026 : Pensioners across the country must submit their annual Jeevan Pramaan or Digital Life Certificate (DLC) by November 30, 2026, to ensure uninterrupted monthly pension payments. Failure to meet the deadline could result in the temporary suspension of pension disbursement from December until the required certificate is submitted and updated in the system.
Jeevan Pramaan is a biometric-enabled digital service that allows pensioners of central and state governments, as well as other government organisations, to submit their annual life certificates online without visiting pension offices.
To make the process convenient, the Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has facilitated several online and doorstep submission options. Pensioners can generate their Digital Life Certificates through face authentication using the UMANG app. They can also avail themselves of free doorstep services offered by India Post Payments Bank (IPPB).
Most public sector undertakings (PSU) and private sector banks also provide free doorstep facilities for generating life certificates. Alternatively, pensioners can visit their nearest EPFO office or Common Service Centre (CSC) to complete the submission process.
The submission window for pensioners aged 80 years and above opened on October 1, 2026, while those below 80 years became eligible to submit their certificates from November 1. Both categories have been given time until November 30 to complete the mandatory exercise.
Pensioners who miss the deadline will not face any monetary penalty. However, their monthly pension may be temporarily withheld until the Digital Life Certificate is submitted and the details are updated. Once the certificate is processed, pending pension payments will be released along with applicable arrears in the subsequent payment cycle.
Earlier in October, Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh reiterated the government's commitment to pensioners' welfare and urged wider adoption of digital pension services. He highlighted that 756 out of 897 long-pending cases, accounting for 84.2 per cent, were resolved during the 17th Pension Adalat.
The government has been promoting digital and doorstep services to make pension-related procedures simpler, faster and more accessible for senior citizens.
