Chandigarh, Nov 2026 : Congress leader and Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi will address the party's ‘Insaaf Rally’ in Punjab's Sangrur district on Wednesday, with state party leaders projecting the event as a major step in strengthening the organisation ahead of the 2027 Assembly elections.

Punjab Congress leaders said the rally would focus on issues concerning the rights, future and justice of the people of the state, while providing an opportunity to highlight concerns over the functioning of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP)-led government.

Punjab Congress President S. Pargat Singh said Rahul Gandhi's visit would give fresh direction and momentum to the party's campaign from the politically significant Malwa region. He added that the event would send a message to party leaders and workers to intensify preparations for ‘Mission 2027’.

Pargat Singh reviewed arrangements for the rally and said people across Punjab were looking forward to Rahul Gandhi's arrival. AICC general secretary Sachin Pilot has also been visiting the venue in Sangrur regularly, along with other senior Congress leaders, to monitor preparations.

In a post on X, the Punjab Congress invited party workers and supporters to attend the rally at Fagguwala village at 10 a.m. on Wednesday.

"Rahul Gandhi is coming tomorrow to Sangrur in Punjab - a hope for Punjab… Everyone, please make sure to reach Fagguwala village at 10 AM in the morning," the party said.

Pargat Singh described the ‘Insaaf Rally’ as an important platform in the Congress's campaign to raise issues related to Punjab's rights, development and future. He said the party intended to use the event to strengthen its connect with people and draw attention to issues affecting different sections of society.

Malwa region central to Congress strategy

The Punjab Congress president underlined the political importance of the Malwa region, noting that its Assembly constituencies play a significant role in determining electoral outcomes in the state.

He said beginning the next phase of the party's election campaign from Sangrur was an important part of its strategy for the 2027 Assembly polls. The Congress would focus on expanding grassroots engagement, strengthening its organisational structure and mobilising party workers across the state.

According to Pargat Singh, consistently raising public concerns and maintaining direct contact with people would remain key priorities as the party prepares for the next electoral contest.

He added that Rahul Gandhi's visit would encourage leaders and workers to come together, improve coordination and accelerate preparations for the elections.

The rally is expected to provide the Congress leadership with an opportunity to sharpen its political messaging against the AAP government while seeking to consolidate its support base in Punjab.
