Agreement signed at Global Summit to turn natural farming into a mass movement across Rajasthan

Farmers to receive natural farming training; agriculture officials and employees to benefit from Rajyoga, stress management and capacity-building programmes

Abu Road’s Tapovan to be developed as a Centre of Excellence for Yogic Natural Farming

Jaipur, October 2026 : In a significant initiative to promote natural farming, empower farmers and expand environmentally friendly agricultural practices in Rajasthan, the state Agriculture Department has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Agriculture and Rural Development Wing of the Rajyoga Education and Research Foundation of the Brahma Kumaris.

The agreement was signed on Sunday during the Global Summit held at the Shantivan campus of the Brahma Kumaris institution in Abu Road.

On behalf of the Rajasthan government, Agriculture Commissioner Naresh Kumar Goyal signed the MoU. The Brahma Kumaris institution was represented by its Agriculture and Rural Development Wing, under the leadership of its chairperson, BK Sarla.

The initiative is expected to accelerate the expansion of natural and yogic farming in the state, strengthen farmer training, enhance the capacity of agricultural personnel and promote environmental conservation. It will bring together the technical expertise of the Agriculture Department and the Brahma Kumaris' experience in training and public awareness.

Making Natural Farming a Mass Movement: Agriculture Commissioner

Agriculture Commissioner Naresh Kumar Goyal said that under the guidance of Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma and Agriculture Minister Dr Kirori Lal Meena, the state government was continuously working to make agriculture more profitable, sustainable, environmentally friendly and beneficial to farmers.

He said natural farming was not merely about reducing dependence on chemical inputs but was also an important initiative for maintaining soil fertility, conserving water, preserving ecological balance and ensuring the long-term economic prosperity of farmers.

Goyal emphasised that transforming natural farming into a mass movement required continuous guidance, training, technical knowledge and exposure to successful farming models. The joint efforts of the Agriculture Department and the Brahma Kumaris institution would play an important role in achieving this objective.

Notably, Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma and Agriculture Minister Dr Kirori Lal Meena have previously visited and appreciated the Brahma Kumaris' natural farming model.

Farmers Across Rajasthan to Receive Training

Under the agreement, training camps, workshops, exhibitions and awareness campaigns on natural and sustainable farming will be organised in various districts across Rajasthan.

Farmers will receive practical guidance on maintaining soil fertility, preparing agricultural inputs using locally available resources, conserving water, adopting climate-resilient agricultural techniques and implementing sustainable farm management practices.

Educational visits and experience-sharing programmes will also be organised to familiarise farmers with successful natural farming models and encourage them to adopt these practices on their own farms.

Capacity Building for Agriculture Personnel; Master Trainers to Be Developed

The agreement will benefit not only farmers but also officers, employees, agricultural supervisors and field personnel of the Agriculture Department.

The two organisations will jointly train agricultural personnel in modern natural farming techniques, effective agricultural extension activities and methods of providing better guidance to farmers.

Training-of-trainers programmes will also be conducted to develop master trainers who can subsequently train farmers and agricultural personnel at the district, block and village levels.

Tapovan to Become a Centre of Excellence for Yogic Natural Farming

A key feature of the agreement is the in-principle decision to develop Tapovan in Abu Road as a Centre of Excellence for Yogic Natural Farming.

Subject to the necessary government approvals and prescribed procedures, the proposed centre could become a major hub for training, demonstrations, research, knowledge exchange and capacity building in natural farming.

Special training programmes for farmers, agriculture officers and master trainers, demonstrations of natural farming models and educational visits may be organised at the centre.

Separate approvals will be obtained for matters relating to its institutional structure, infrastructure, financial arrangements and operational framework.

Focus on Mental Well-being and a Positive Work Culture

The MoU also provides for programmes to promote the mental well-being, stress management, work efficiency and positive work culture of Agriculture Department officers and employees.

With the support of the Brahma Kumaris institution, training activities will cover Rajyoga meditation, positive thinking, emotional balance, work-life balance, leadership skills and personality development.

These programmes aim to improve concentration, mental balance, positive attitudes and professional efficiency among agricultural personnel.

Joint Awareness Campaigns to Reach Villages

Under the agreement, joint awareness campaigns can be conducted at the state, divisional, district, block and village levels to expand natural farming across Rajasthan.

Both organisations will collaborate in organising farmers' fairs, conferences, workshops, training camps and exhibitions.

During the initial phase, activities may be undertaken in selected districts or agricultural clusters. Based on the experience and results, the initiatives will be expanded in phases to other districts across the state.

Three-Year Agreement; Progress to Be Reviewed Through Joint Action Plans

The MoU will initially remain in force for three years and may be extended with the mutual consent of both parties.

To ensure effective implementation, both organisations will nominate nodal officers and prepare an annual joint action plan.

Progress will be reviewed periodically based on the number of farmers and agricultural personnel trained, training programmes conducted, district-wise activities undertaken and the adoption of natural farming practices.

Any financial commitments arising from the agreement will be determined through separate approvals and in accordance with applicable government rules.

Major Step Towards Farmer Prosperity, Healthy Soil and a Safer Environment

Agriculture Commissioner Goyal said the state government's objective was to make farming more profitable by connecting farmers with modern scientific knowledge, the judicious use of natural resources and sustainable agricultural practices.

He said the collaboration between the Agriculture Department and the Brahma Kumaris institution would strengthen awareness and confidence among farmers regarding natural farming. It would also encourage improvements in soil health, water conservation, better utilisation of local resources and the development of an environmentally friendly agricultural system.

Goyal said the state government's commitment was to ensure that Rajasthan's farmers achieved economic prosperity, soil fertility was preserved and future generations inherited a healthy and safe environment.

He added that expanding natural and yogic farming would be an important step towards fulfilling this commitment.

The agreement marks a significant initiative towards expanding natural farming in Rajasthan, promoting farmer welfare, supporting the overall development of agricultural personnel and building a sustainable agricultural system.

Jodhpur Agriculture University Vice-Chancellor Virendra Singh Jaitawat and officials of the Agriculture Department were also present on the occasion.
