Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, while accepting the Aryadan Muhammed-2026 Best Public Servant Award in Kerala, accused the Sangh Parivar and BJP of undermining India’s secular and constitutional values and called for support for Rahul Gandhi.
Nilambur (Kerala), Sept 2026 : Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Friday described the political contest over the future of India as a fight between two “parivars” — the Gandhi Parivar and the Sangh Parivar — while launching a sharp attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party and the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh.
Reddy made the remarks while receiving the Aryadan Muhammed-2026 Best Public Servant Award at a function in Nilambur. The award, instituted by the Aryadan Muhammed Foundation in memory of veteran Kerala Congress leader and former minister Aryadan Muhammed, recognised Reddy’s leadership and welfare initiatives for farmers, backward classes and other sections of society in Telangana.
Congress General Secretary (Organisation) K.C. Venugopal presented the award to Reddy. The honour carries a cash prize of Rs 1 lakh, along with a citation and memento. Reddy is the first person from outside Kerala to receive the award, according to his remarks at the ceremony.
In his address, Reddy said the Gandhi Parivar represented sacrifice and service to the country. He referred to Mahatma Gandhi, former Prime Ministers Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi, as well as Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi, while speaking about what he described as sacrifices made for the country and the Congress party.
Reddy alleged that the Sangh Parivar was attempting to divide India along religious, caste, regional and linguistic lines. He also accused the BJP of working against freedom, secularism and the Constitution, and criticised the party over the political debate surrounding the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls.
Referring to allegations of “vote chori”, Reddy said the issue extended beyond electoral rolls and accused his political opponents of attempting to undermine democratic institutions. He alleged that “party”, “symbol” and “funds” were also being targeted and claimed that the future of the country’s youth and the foundations of democracy were at stake.
The Telangana Chief Minister then appealed to people to unite behind the Gandhi family to protect what he described as India’s democracy, secularism and freedom. He said Rahul Gandhi’s message of hope was reaching different parts of the country and expressed his personal ambition of seeing Rahul Gandhi become Prime Minister.
Reddy also said he expected a Congress-led government at the Centre with Rahul Gandhi as Prime Minister. These remarks were part of his political address at the award ceremony.
Paying tribute to Aryadan Muhammed, Reddy described the late leader as an important figure in Kerala politics. He noted that Muhammed had represented Nilambur as an MLA eight times and served as a minister in four Kerala governments. Reddy said Aryadan Muhammed had spent decades in public life and associated his political legacy with democracy, secularism and the Constitution.
Reddy said the best tribute to the veteran Congress leader would be to continue working to protect these values. He described Muhammed as a “Chanakya” of Kerala politics and recalled his long association with the Congress.
The Telangana Chief Minister also described Kerala as a “bellwether” state, drawing an analogy with the monsoon. He said weather patterns in Kerala are closely watched across India because the onset of the monsoon there provides an indication of rainfall patterns in several other states.
Turning to politics, Reddy claimed that Kerala’s electoral choices had historically provided indications of broader political trends at the national level. He said the Congress victory in Kerala, as he characterised it, represented a “new breeze” in 2026 and suggested that the political momentum from the state could spread across the country.
The Aryadan Muhammed Foundation had earlier said Reddy was selected for the award for his initiatives concerning farmers, backward classes and the common people of Telangana, as well as his leadership and commitment to democratic values. The selection jury included MP Benny Behanan, Kerala Revenue Minister A.P. Anil Kumar and intellectual Kalpetta Narayanan.
