Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav said Madhya Pradesh has entered a new phase of development, with the state's growth rate reaching double digits, investment rising rapidly and employment indicators showing a positive trend. Addressing the ‘Viksit Bharat – Badhta Madhya Pradesh’ Conclave organised by a reputed media group at a private hotel in Bhopal on Wednesday, he said increasing industrial investment is giving fresh momentum to the economy while creating new employment and self-employment opportunities for youth. He said the government is providing investors with a conducive business environment, necessary infrastructure and support. The state's geographical location, natural resources and industrial potential are strengthening its position as an investment destination.
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said Madhya Pradesh has been progressing with good governance since 2002-03 and is working towards the vision of a developed India by 2047. He said per capita income, which stood at ₹11,000 in 2002-03, rose to ₹1.40 lakh over the following two decades and has now reached ₹1.57 lakh. The state has set a target of raising it to ₹22.50 lakh by 2047. The Chief Minister said taht the state has overcome several major challenges under the guidance of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, including water-related issues and Naxalism. The Ken-Betwa Link and Parbati-Kalisindh-Chambal (PKC) projects will benefit districts in Madhya Pradesh and neighbouring states. He also said Naxalism has been eliminated within the stipulated timeframe. Madhya Pradesh has adequate power, land availability for industries and better law and order. The state is a leader in agriculture, foodgrain production and mining, besides having significant potential in tourism, religious tourism and wildlife tourism.
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said more than ₹11 lakh crore of the ₹30 lakh crore in investment proposals received at GIS-2025 has already materialised on the ground. The state has 25 industry-friendly policies and a transparent system to facilitate investment. He said more than 85,000 government posts have been filled since the present government came to power, around 2.5 lakh promotions have been carried out, and recruitment to around one lakh posts is underway annually. The MSME sector provides employment to around 1.20 crore people, while around two crore farmers are engaged in agriculture.
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said, highlighting religious tourism, that around 60 lakh devotees visited Ujjain annually until 2022, while the number rose to eight crore last year. Around 12 crore devotees are expected this year. Preparations are being strengthened for Simhastha 2028, when 30 to 40 crore devotees are expected to visit Ujjain. He said CM Sugam Parivahan buses will commence operations on September 25 on the occasion of Pandit Deendayal Jayanti. Electric buses will be given registration exemptions. The state has a five-lakh-kilometre road network, while connectivity to Ujjain and other areas is being strengthened.
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said the school education budget has been increased to ₹38,000 crore and funds have been released for dilapidated school buildings. He said no school in the state will operate from a dilapidated building within the next two years. He said Sandipani schools have emerged as role models, with children from private schools enrolling in government schools. Teachers of government schools achieving 100 per cent board examination results for three consecutive years are being felicitated.
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said river-linking projects would remain a major priority over the next five years. He also highlighted the need for continued efforts in areas previously affected by Naxalism. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said, responding to a personal question, that he had married both his sons in mass marriage ceremonies. He said avoiding extravagance in weddings, particularly by public figures, can have a positive influence on society.
