Those who do not understand the essence of UP and India’s 'Dharmanagaris' cannot understand UP and India: CM Yogi
CM speaks at the conclusion of Shrimad Bhagwat Katha held in the memory of Yugpurush Brahmalin Mahant Digvijaynath Ji Maharaj and Rashtrasant Brahmalin Mahant Avedyanath Ji Maharaj
Gorakhpur, September 2026 : Gorakshpeethadhishwar and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath stated, “Sanatan is India’s original faith. India cannot even be imagined without Sanatan. Our shortcoming was that we forgot ourselves. We had everything. When the world was living in darkness, India possessed the most civilized, cultured and strongest tradition.”
CM Yogi expressed his views on Tuesday evening during the concluding session of Shrimad Bhagwat Mahapuran Katha Gyan Yajna, organized on the occasion of the 57th death anniversary of Yugpurush Brahmalin Mahant Digvijaynath Ji Maharaj and the 12th death anniversary of Rashtrasant Brahmalin Mahant Avedyanath Ji Maharaj at Gorakhnath Temple. After listening to Katha in the Digvijaynath Smriti Bhawan auditorium and bowing reverentially before the Vyaspeeth, Chief Minister stated, “Those who have not recognized the essence of Uttar Pradesh’s Sanatan dharmanagaris will not be able to understand Uttar Pradesh and India. Those who have not understood the dignity of Ayodhya, the consciousness of Kashi, devotion of Mathura-Vrindavan and social harmony of Kumbhnagari Prayagraj, how will they be able to understand Uttar Pradesh and India?”
Elaborating on the reverence accorded to Gomata in Sanatan Dharma, CM stated, “Gomata embodies the identity of Sanatan. It has been the tradition in Sanatan that the first morsel is for Gomata. If every Sanatani followed this practice, Gomata would not be wandering on the roads today. Similarly, the final morsel is considered to be for the dog. If people followed this practice, stray dogs on the roads would not prey on passers-by. We did not follow the tradition of our sages and seers in this regard.”
CM Yogi stated, “One of the names of Mother Earth is also Gomata. If we want to save Mother Earth, we will also have to save Gomata. Government is making every effort at its level for the protection and promotion of Gomata, but citizens will also have to fulfill their responsibility.” He informed that more than 16 lakh cattle are being reared and cared for in the state through more than 7,000 gaushalas.
Chief Minister said that, to protect Gomata and cattle, the government also provides farmers financial assistance of Rs. 1,500 per cattle per month for keeping destitute cattle. Similarly, destitute cow shelters provide married cows and maintenance funds for malnourished families. CM stated, “The milk of an indigenous Indian-breed Gomata is nectar-like. The general public can also earn punya by becoming partners in the operation of gaushalas.” He appealed, “Adopt cattle in a gaushala. Make arrangements accordingly and worship them by applying tilak on Gopashtami. By doing so, your home will be filled with wealth and prosperity, life will become happy, you will attain all forms of good health and with the blessings of Gomata, sorrow and poverty will not remain.”
Expressing concern over diseases such as cancer, kidney and liver disorders, CM stated, “All this is the result of a fault in system, which has affected every food grain through the use of chemical fertilizers and dangerous medicines. The solution is not merely treatment. The solution to this problem lies in natural farming based on Indian Gomata. If people consume food grains produced through natural farming using cow dung, diseases such as cancer, kidney and liver disorders, and diabetes will not occur, and there will also be no stress. Indian-breed Gomata is the panacea for serious diseases, therefore we must protect and promote cattle.” CM informed that, in addition to treatment through Ayushman cards, he had separately allocated Rs 1400 crore from his discretionary fund for treating serious diseases among the poor.
Praising Katha Vyas, Malookpeethadhishwar, Swami Shri Rajendardas Dwaracharya, who came from Vrindavan, wholeheartedly, CM Yogi stated, “Swamiji narrated the Shrimad Bhagwat Katha with utmost simplicity and ease. During this Katha, a severe disaster affected public life in several states of the country. But on the sacred land of Shivavatar Mahayogi Gorakhnath in Gorakhpur, the sacred Katha continued uninterrupted, with devotional reverence, through the words of the Katha Vyas. Even the disaster did not become an obstacle in its path and this is the identity of India. Despite facing disasters, the Katha continued to commence on time and all devotees enjoyed the Katha with dignity, equality, devotion and vitality.”
At the conclusion of the Katha, the CM, saints, and yajmans performed aarti of the Shrimad Bhagwat Mahapuran and Vyaspeeth. On the occasion, State Government Jal Shakti Minister Swatantra Dev Singh, Mahant of Mastnath Peeth Asthal Bohar, Rohtak, Haryana, and Rajasthan Assembly MLA Balaknath, Dr. Ramkamal Das Vedanti from Varanasi, Swami Ramdineshacharya from Ayodhya, Gorakhnath Temple’s chief priest Yogi Kamalnath, Kalibari Mahant Ravindradas, along with several sadhus and saints, yajmans and a large number of devotees participated.
