Mumbai, Sep 2026 : Positive action should be taken to provide necessary civic amenities to residents of the Kanhan Municipal Council area. The government is favourably considering providing funds for the development of a weekly market, crematorium, vegetable market and garden, and the required proposals should be submitted immediately, Minister of State for Urban Development Madhuri Misal directed.
She was speaking at a meeting held at Mantralaya to review various issues concerning the Kanhan Municipal Council.
Minister Misal said that if government land is not available for the weekly market and crematorium, provision should be made for funds to acquire private land. A comprehensive plan should also be prepared for the development of the crematorium.
She further directed officials to examine the provision of funds under the Nagarothan scheme either in phases or by categorising the proposed works, and to make funds available in accordance with the applicable rules.
She also directed that a proposal should be submitted for construction of a bus station at the site reserved for the purpose. Officials were asked to examine the possibility of developing a garden on the land reserved for an amenity space at Mouza Kanhan.
Minister Misal further said that if suitable land is available for constructing shop units and commercial premises, a proposal for the same should be submitted.
She also directed that if there are encroachments on reserved plots, necessary action should be taken to remove them in accordance with the rules.
