Hyderabad, Aug 2026 : Telangana has earmarked ₹1,000 crore for the preparations and infrastructure development linked to the Godavari Pushkaralu 2027, with the state government directing departments to accelerate arrangements ahead of the major religious gathering.
Telangana Information Technology and Industries Minister Duddilla Sridhar Babu, who chairs the Cabinet Sub-Committee on Godavari Pushkaralu 2027, directed officials to begin major works from the first week of September. He also instructed authorities to complete the tendering process by the end of August to ensure sufficient time for execution and monitoring.
Sridhar Babu chaired a meeting of the Cabinet Sub-Committee at the Dr B.R. Ambedkar Telangana Secretariat, where detailed preparations for the Pushkaralu were reviewed. Ministers Konda Surekha, Tummala Nageswara Rao, Ponnam Prabhakar, Seethakka, Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, Vivek Venkataswamy and Adluri Laxman Kumar, along with State Government Advisor P. Sudarshan Reddy, participated in the meeting.
The committee examined the preparedness of various departments and reviewed the progress of arrangements required to accommodate the expected influx of pilgrims. Officials were given specific instructions to adhere strictly to timelines and ensure that infrastructure works are completed without compromising on quality.
The minister ordered the appointment of special officers for Tier-1 locations, which are expected to experience particularly heavy pilgrim footfall. Dedicated command and control centres were also proposed at important locations to improve coordination, monitor crowd movement and respond quickly to emergencies.
Sridhar Babu stressed that senior officials must conduct regular field inspections to assess the progress of works. He directed departments to maintain close coordination and take immediate corrective measures wherever delays or shortcomings are identified.
The Endowments Department was asked to establish a dedicated dashboard to monitor the progress of Pushkaralu-related works on a daily basis. The system is expected to provide authorities with an updated picture of ongoing projects and help identify delays at an early stage.
Road connectivity and transportation arrangements were also given priority during the meeting. Officials were instructed to ensure smooth access to major Pushkaralu locations and identify any gaps in road connectivity immediately. Local funds may be utilised to address urgent deficiencies and prevent inconvenience to pilgrims.
The committee further emphasised the importance of involving local public representatives, district Collectors, Superintendents of Police, other senior district officials and scholars in the planning and execution of the event.
Sridhar Babu also called for the identification of voluntary organisations and private groups willing to provide services to devotees. Their involvement, he said, should be planned well in advance to ensure that adequate support is available during the peak period.
The minister underlined that the success of the Godavari Pushkaralu would depend on effective coordination among all government departments. He instructed senior officials to carefully consider the recommendations of the Cabinet Sub-Committee and take timely action.
Warning against delays or negligence, Sridhar Babu said officials would be held accountable for shortcomings in preparations and that any negligence in ensuring proper arrangements for devotees would invite strict action.
