Hyderabad, Nov 2026 : The Telangana government has substantially reduced the prices of the Hyderabad Metro Rail and Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC) common travel passes, bringing significant relief to daily commuters. The monthly pass price has been cut from ₹8,500 to ₹4,000, while the daily pass has been reduced from ₹400 to ₹275.
Announcing the revised fares on Friday, Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar described the decision as a Diwali gift to the people. The new prices will come into effect from November 8.
The minister said the decision was taken under the directions of Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy to reduce the financial burden of commuting and make public transport more affordable.
Under the revised structure, monthly pass holders will save ₹4,500, while daily pass users will benefit from a reduction of ₹125.
The revised daily common pass will cost ₹275, comprising ₹200 for Metro Rail travel and ₹75 for RTC bus services. It will allow commuters to undertake up to four single journeys in a day.
Similarly, the monthly common pass will cost ₹4,000, with ₹3,000 allocated for Metro Rail travel and ₹1,000 for RTC services. The pass will permit a maximum of 50 round trips in a month.
Revised Hyderabad Metro-RTC Common Pass Rates
| Pass category | Earlier price | Revised price | Savings |
|---|---|---|---|
| Daily pass | ₹400 | ₹275 | ₹125 |
| Monthly pass | ₹8,500 | ₹4,000 | ₹4,500 |
Prabhakar said the reduction would provide considerable relief to ordinary citizens who depend on public transport for their daily commute.
The common pass facility was launched last month by TGSRTC and Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited (HMRL) to offer commuters a convenient option for travelling by both buses and Metro services.
At the time of its introduction, the monthly pass was priced at ₹8,500, with ₹7,000 allocated for Metro travel and ₹1,500 for RTC services. The daily pass was priced at ₹400, comprising ₹300 for Metro Rail and ₹100 for RTC buses.
However, the pricing structure attracted criticism from commuters, who felt that the combined passes were too expensive. Several passengers pointed out that purchasing the common pass could cost more than buying individual tickets, even for those undertaking long daily journeys.
The complaints prompted demands for a review of the fares. Taking note of the concerns, the state government initiated discussions with senior officials from the transport and Metro authorities.
Following a series of meetings and consultations, the Transport Minister decided to substantially reduce the rates.
The revised pricing is aimed at making the integrated ticketing facility more accessible and encouraging greater use of public transport across Hyderabad. The government expects the lower fares to benefit regular commuters who use a combination of Metro Rail and RTC bus services.
With the new rates coming into effect on November 8, commuters will be able to access the combined travel facility at considerably lower costs.
