Telangana to Host Khelo India Youth Games 2026 on Grand Scale: CM Revanth Reddy

Hyderabad, August 2026 : Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has directed officials to make elaborate arrangements for hosting the prestigious Khelo India Youth Games 2026 on a grand scale, with a focus on world-class infrastructure, efficient event management and a strong celebration of sporting talent.

The Chief Minister held a review meeting at the Bodhi Pavilion on the MCRHRD campus with Sports Minister Vakiti Srihari and senior officials to assess preparations for the national-level sporting event. Athletes from across the country are expected to participate in competitions across 20 sporting disciplines.

Revanth Reddy instructed officials to immediately assess the condition of existing stadiums and sports facilities in Hyderabad and undertake the necessary upgrades. He stressed that the improvements should be designed as permanent infrastructure capable of supporting future sporting events as well.

The Chief Minister assured the officials that the government would provide adequate funds for the preparations. He also directed them to begin planning for the opening and closing ceremonies, including the participation of chief guests, renowned sportspersons and film personalities.

Emphasising the importance of clear coordination, the Chief Minister asked officials to assign specific responsibilities relating to infrastructure, event management, accommodation and other guest facilities. He called for detailed advance planning to ensure that all arrangements are completed well before the competitions begin.

The meeting also discussed the involvement of Arjuna Award winners from Telangana, members of the Telangana Sports Hub Board, the Olympic Association and national-level sports representatives in the Games. Revanth Reddy stressed that their expertise and participation should be effectively incorporated into the overall planning.

With competitions scheduled across 20 disciplines, officials were instructed to identify suitable venues for each sport and ensure that all necessary facilities are put in place.

The Chief Minister said every event should reflect the true spirit of sportsmanship, while providing young athletes with a memorable and professionally organised platform to showcase their talent.

Government Advisor Ramakrishna Rao, Sports Authority of Telangana Chairman Shivasena Reddy, Special Chief Secretary (Sports) Jayesh Ranjan and SATG Managing Director Sony Bala Devi attended the review meeting.
