Delhi Assembly Hosts Tiranga Yatra to Honour National Unity, Democracy and Constitutional Values
New Delhi, August 2026 : “The Tricolour is not merely our national flag; it is the living heartbeat of our democracy and the sacred thread connecting every Indian to the ideals of our Constitution,” said Hon’ble Speaker of the Delhi Legislative Assembly, Shri Vijender Gupta, as he participated in the Tiranga Yatra held today at the Delhi Assembly premises.
The Hon’ble Chief Minister of Delhi, Smt. Rekha Gupta, along with Cabinet Ministers Shri Parvesh Sahib Singh, Shri Ashish Sood, Shri Manjinder Singh Sirsa, Shri Pankaj Kumar Singh, Shri Ravinder Indraj Singh, Chief Whip Shri Abhay Verma, and Hon’ble MLAs actively participated in the vibrant march. Commencing from the statue of Mahatma Gandhi and culminating at the statue of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar, the yatra served as a powerful symbol of national unity, democratic values, and constitutional reverence.
The Hon’ble Speaker Shri Vijender Gupta said that the profound symbolic significance of marching from the Father of the Nation to the Chief Architect of the Indian Constitution. Speaker Shri Gupta stated that this pathway within the Assembly grounds encapsulates India's journey from freedom to constitutional governance, reinforcing the values that guide the state's democratic institutions. He noted that as the temple of democracy in the National Capital, the Assembly bears a solemn responsibility to champion justice, liberty, equality, and fraternity for all citizens.
On this occasion, Hon'ble Chief Minister Smt. Rekha Gupta stated that the Tricolour is not merely the national flag, but a symbol of our civilization's pride, a memory of the penance and sacrifices of our freedom fighters, and the unity of 140 crore Indians. She remarked that it reminds us of the sacrifices of countless heroes whose struggle and devotion brought freedom to the country.
Smt. Rekha Gupta added that on this grand festival of independence, it is necessary not only to hoist the Tricolour, but also to pledge to fulfill our responsibilities toward our city and society. Just as the people of our nation fought unitedly to achieve freedom, every citizen must now contribute with the same spirit to make Delhi clean, beautiful, and green.
