Tribute Paid to Immortal Freedom Fighters on Martyrs’ Day

Patna, August 2026: On the occasion of Martyrs’ Day, a solemn tribute was paid to the seven immortal freedom fighters who made the supreme sacrifice during the Quit India Movement on August 11, 1942. The sacrifices of Umakant Prasad Singh, Ramanand Singh, Satish Prasad Jha, Jagatpati Kumar, Devendra Chaudhary, Rajendra Singh and Ram Govind Singh were remembered, and floral tributes were offered to honour their contribution to India’s freedom struggle.

A state-level commemorative ceremony was organised at the Shaheed Smarak Complex in Patna. Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary paid floral tributes at the statues of the martyrs and expressed his heartfelt respect for their sacrifice.

Deputy Chief Minister Vijendra Prasad Yadav, Bihar Legislative Council Chairman Awadhesh Narayan Singh, Bihar Legislative Assembly Deputy Speaker Narendra Narayan Yadav, Building Construction Minister Leishi Singh, Food and Consumer Protection Minister Ashok Choudhary, Science, Technology and Technical Education Minister Sheela Kumari, Cooperative Minister Ramkripal Yadav, MLA Shyam Rajak, along with other public representatives, Chief Minister’s Secretary Sanjay Kumar Singh, Patna Divisional Commissioner Mayank Varavde, District Magistrate Kundan Kumar, Senior Superintendent of Police Kartikeya K. Sharma, family members of the immortal martyrs and other dignitaries also paid floral tributes at the memorial.

Later, Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary, along with ministers, legislators and other dignitaries, proceeded to Shaheed Park located on the Bihar Legislative Assembly premises. They offered floral wreaths before the Amar Jyoti and paid homage to all the immortal martyrs of the freedom struggle.

On the occasion, artists from the Information and Public Relations Department presented Bihar Geet and patriotic songs, adding a solemn and patriotic spirit to the commemorative programme.
