Under Pressure From People, BCI Chairman Forced To Withdraw Dictatorial Order, He Must Resign: Arvind Kejriwal

NEW DELHI, Aug 2026 : Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal has demanded the resignation of Bar Council of India (BCI) Chairman and BJP Rajya Sabha MP Manan Kumar Mishra over a ‘dictatorial’ order. He said the Chairman was wrong to direct all State Bar Councils to stop the enrolment of NALSAR University’s 2026 batch. Faced with pressure from the people, he was forced to withdraw the order.

The AAP Chief pointed out that the Bar Council of India is an independent statutory body of lawyers and cannot be turned into a political weapon. He asserted that an aware public will neither accept the arrogance of power nor allow democratic institutions to be used as instruments of political pressure.

AAP National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal posted on social media platform ‘X’ that BJP Rajya Sabha MP and Bar Council of India (BCI) Chairman Manan Kumar Mishra had issued an dictatorial order directing all State Bar Councils to stop the enrolment of the entire 2026 batch of NALSAR (National Academy of Legal Studies And Research) University. Following opposition from the ‘Cockroach Janata Party’ and citizens across the country, he was forced to withdraw the order. Arvind Kejriwal stated, “The BCI is an independent statutory body of lawyers, not a BJP cell. Manan Kumar Mishra must resign.”

Pointing to the broader issue, he stated,“In recent years, the Central Government’s tendency to suppress dissent, take control of institutions and impose arbitrary orders has increased. But the people of the country have repeatedly made it clear that they will neither accept the arrogance of power nor allow democratic institutions to be turned into political weapons.”
