New Delhi, Aug 2026: Outer Delhi Warriors delivered a commanding all-round performance to defeat South Delhi Superstarz by 39 runs in a rain-reduced 10-over contest in the Delhi Premier League (DPL) 2026 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Thursday.
Put into bat first, Outer Delhi Warriors posted an imposing 132/2 in 10 overs, riding on a spectacular unbeaten innings from Yajas Sharma. The right-handed batter produced an aggressive display of stroke-making, smashing 64 not out off just 29 balls, including five sixes and five boundaries.
Sharma set the tone for the Warriors from the outset. He and Priyansh Arya added 31 runs for the opening wicket in only 2.2 overs, giving their team the perfect platform in the shortened contest. Arya was eventually dismissed for 10 off eight deliveries.
Akshay Saini then joined Sharma and maintained the attacking momentum with a quick 20 off 10 balls. The Warriors continued to score at a brisk pace despite the limited number of deliveries available to them.
With the innings entering its final phase, Monu Shukla provided the finishing flourish. He remained unbeaten on 21 off 13 balls, combining effectively with Sharma to ensure the Warriors crossed the 130-run mark.
The target of 133 proved too demanding for South Delhi Superstarz, who suffered a disastrous start in their chase. The Warriors' bowlers immediately put the opposition under pressure, reducing South Delhi to 5/2 before further strikes left them struggling at 16/4.
Tejasvi Dahiya and Ekansh Dobal then attempted to revive the chase, putting together a crucial 52-run partnership for the fifth wicket. Their stand briefly raised hopes of an unlikely comeback.
Dahiya scored 18 from 11 deliveries before being dismissed by Akshay Saini. Dobal continued to attack the bowling and produced one of the most entertaining innings of the match, scoring 35 off only 15 balls. His knock included four sixes and two fours.
However, Dobal's dismissal effectively ended South Delhi's hopes of mounting a successful chase. The lower order struggled to cope with the mounting required run rate and disciplined Warriors bowling.
South Delhi Superstarz were eventually bowled out for 93, handing Outer Delhi Warriors a comprehensive 39-run victory.
Navdeep Saini was the standout performer with the ball, claiming an impressive 3/9 in his two overs. He was well supported by the rest of the Warriors' bowling attack, which maintained tight lines and consistently pressured the South Delhi batters.
The victory highlighted Outer Delhi Warriors' strength in both batting and bowling and underlined their ability to adapt effectively to the shortened format imposed by rain.
