Indian Army to Showcase ‘Ranbhoomi Vyuh Rachna’ in Historic Phased Battle Array at 77th Republic Day Parade

New Delhi, Jan 2026: The Indian Army is all set to script history at the 77th Republic Day Parade on Kartavya Path by unveiling a first-of-its-kind combat presentation in a “Phased Battle Array format”, officially termed Ranbhoomi Vyuh Rachna. This pioneering concept will offer spectators a realistic and sequential depiction of a modern battlefield, demonstrating how troops, platforms and weapon systems are deployed during actual combat operations.

According to an official government release, the innovative battle array has been designed to mirror real-time warfighting doctrine. Unlike conventional static displays, the phased format will unfold in tactical order, beginning with intelligence and reconnaissance, moving through intense combat operations, and culminating with support, deep strike and air defence elements. The display reflects the Indian Army’s evolving operational philosophy and its growing reliance on indigenous, technologically advanced systems.

The sequence will open with the reconnaissance and battlefield shaping phase. The iconic 61 Cavalry, the world’s only active horse-mounted cavalry regiment, will appear in active combat uniform, symbolising a seamless blend of heritage and modern warfare. This will be followed by the High Mobility Reconnaissance Vehicle, India’s first indigenously developed Armoured Light Specialist Vehicle. Aerial reconnaissance and battlefield preparation will be demonstrated by the indigenous Dhruv Advanced Light Helicopter and its armed variant Rudra, flying in the tactical Prahar formation.

The main combat phase will then take centre stage, featuring the formidable T-90 Bhishma and Arjun Main Battle Tanks, highlighting the Army’s armoured strike power. These will be supported by Apache AH-64E attack helicopters and the indigenous Prachand Light Combat Helicopters, showcasing coordinated ground–air operations. Mechanised formations comprising BMP-II Infantry Combat Vehicles and the Nag Missile System (Tracked) Mk-2 will further underline India’s battlefield mobility and precision strike capabilities.

Adding a sharp edge to the display, a Special Forces contingent will follow, equipped with Ajayketu All-Terrain Vehicles, Randhwaj Rugged Terrain Tactical Transport Systems and Dhawansak Light Strike Vehicles, representing rapid-response and high-risk operational roles. This segment will be succeeded by a glimpse into future warfare with the induction of robotic dogs, unmanned ground vehicles and four autonomous systems — Nigraha, Bhairav, Bhuviraksha and Krishna — mounted on specialised carriers.

The support and next-generation warfare phase will highlight India’s growing unmanned warhead and loitering munition capabilities. Systems such as Shaktibaan and Divyastra, mounted on High Mobility Vehicles (HMV 6×6), will showcase a diverse arsenal including Harop, Mini Harpy, Peacekeeper, ATS variants and Sky Striker. These platforms are capable of deploying swarm drones and long-range strike drones with ranges exceeding 1,000 kilometres.

Indigenous artillery will command attention through the Dhanush Gun System and the Advanced Towed Artillery Gun System (ATAGS), reinforcing the spirit of Aatmanirbhar Bharat. Deep strike prowess will be demonstrated by the supersonic BrahMos missile system and the indigenous Suryastra Universal Rocket Launcher System, while air defence strength will be represented by the Akash Weapon System and the Abhra Medium Range Surface-to-Air Missile (MRSAM).

The phased battle array will also feature a glass-cased Integrated Operational Centre, offering a brief visual depiction of the conduct of Operation Sindoor. The release noted that the operation symbolises the fusion of Virasat, Vividhata aur Vikas, with BrahMos delivering decisive strikes and missile systems like Akash and S-400 forming a protective shield — reflecting Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of the Sudarshan Chakra.
