Draupati Bandhe Becomes Self-Reliant and a “Lakhpati Didi” Through the Bihan SchemeEarning ₹50,000 Per Month

Raipur, January 2026 : Under the National Rural Livelihood Mission, the Bihan Scheme is playing a significant role in the economic empowerment of rural women. In this context, Mrs. Draupati Bandhe, a resident of village Barcha in Patharia development block of Mungeli district, has achieved success on the path of self-reliance by associating with the Bihan Scheme. After joining the Jai Laxmi Women Self-Help Group under the scheme, a new chapter of transformation began in her life.

Through the self-help group, she received access to loan facilities. By making proper use of the loan amount, Mrs. Draupati Bandhe started vegetable cultivation and marketing. She not only began growing crops but also selling them in the market, thereby generating a regular source of income.

Draupati Bandhe shared that her monthly income, which earlier was around ₹20,000, has now increased to nearly ₹50,000. This has enabled her to repay loans on time and end her dependence on moneylenders. She explained that before joining the group, her financial condition was extremely weak. The family had very limited sources of income, and meeting daily necessities was often difficult. They had to depend on small labour jobs and temporary work.

Due to financial hardship, she was forced to borrow money from village moneylenders at high interest rates, which further worsened her situation. The family struggled to meet basic needs related to education, health, and nutrition. However, today she has become completely self-reliant. Mrs. Draupati Bandhe expressed her gratitude to the government and the administration for the scheme that transformed her life.
