Mumbai, Feb 2026 : In a dominant display at the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup on Monday, West Indies outclassed Zimbabwe by 107 runs, showcasing explosive batting followed by incisive bowling. Batting first at the Wankhede Stadium, the Caribbean side piled up a daunting 254 for 6 in their 20 overs, a total that proved far beyond Zimbabwe’s reach as they were bowled out for 147.

Chasing a massive target of 255, Zimbabwe suffered an early collapse. In-form opener Brian Bennett failed to make an impact and departed for just five runs, while wicketkeeper-batter Tadiwanashe Marumani managed only 14. The pressure intensified when Ryan Burl was dismissed for a duck by Akeal Hosein.

Middle-order resistance came briefly from Dion Myers, who struck a few powerful shots before being clean bowled by Gudakesh Motie for 28 off 15 balls. Captain Sikandar Raza scored 27, while Tony Munyonga added 14. The standout for Zimbabwe was Brad Evans, who top-scored with a fighting 43 from 21 balls. West Indies’ bowlers were clinical, with Motie returning figures of 4 for 28 and Hosein picking up 3 for 28 to seal a comprehensive win.

Earlier, West Indies’ innings was powered by blistering knocks from Shimron Hetmyer and Rovman Powell. Hetmyer smashed an 85 off just 34 deliveries, peppering the boundary with seven fours and seven sixes, while Powell struck 59 from 35 balls. Sherfane Rutherford provided the finishing touches with an unbeaten 31 off 13 balls. For Zimbabwe, Blessing Muzarabani and Richard Ngarava claimed two wickets each.

The emphatic victory underlined West Indies’ title credentials as they strengthened their position in the tournament with a commanding all-round performance.
